Sky Lanterns!

Recommended Posts

Any DRC brides:

The WC @ Dreams Riviera Cancun had told us that we could use these, so I bought them for our wedding (Dec 3rd, 2011). Well, when we got there, the WC told us our previous WC (who is no longer there) was mistaken and we could NOT use them, because they are located in a protected area. Way to tell me that AFTER I purchased them...So bummed- I was so excited to use these! Anyhow, the only reason I didn't argue with her is because it was super windy, and we couldn't have set them off anyway. So just be aware...

I think that I'm still going to ask my WC at aventura palace if I can use these. I love the idea, and perhaps its the wording. One bride mentioned that she just made the wc aware, didn't ask permission. Also, mentioning that you are purchasing the 100% biodegradable lanterns may help the situation. Of course, wind would be an understandable reason to not allow it that night. I think its still worth a try, even if some brides may have been told no.

Does anyone have video of the floating lotus lanterns? I wondered if those were as breathtaking as the sky lanterns are.

Hello to all - Sky Lanterns are  being banned in various parts of the UK and North America because of the fire potential. And in coastal areas, they have been the cause of several "ocean search & rescue" teams being sent out for no reason.

There's a fantastic new product just on the market here in the UK and I *think* it is already available in North America.  It is called Flying Wish Paper - you can see it at www.flyingwish.co.uk.  A really fun activity for a wedding or any other gathering!  Hope you all like it as much as I did!  They say it is supposed to be for indoors, but we lit them in a courtyard behind the pub!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
