I am in LOVE with pomanders and did a DIY a few weeks back of tissue paper pomanders.  I will post a pic for you to check them out.  They turned out really well.  originally I was going to do real (too pricey for our budget) then I was going to do faux flower ones, and then a friend suggested these.  I did them for under $1 a ball!  My only concern is the type of chairs for the ceremony and how I am going to attach them... maybe using chair sashes?  What are you thinking of doing?  Danielle from FB group has been awesome and she suggested a company for chair sashes and they were only $0.59 a piece or something so if I do go for them I will likely order from there!  I totally know what you mean about it taking over your life.  FI is out away a lot lately and so it take up my WHOLE life I feel!

DJ mania is our big decision too!! I just am having trouble justifying $450+ an hour because our reception is only 2-2.5 hours long! I think it will make for a much better "party" but I just don't know.  Do you know if there are any other DJ options? What about the resort DJ?

We will probably do a welcome dinner but that's it.  I too have heard there's no real rehearsal opportunity but I think maybe we will just do dinner with our families and bridal parties as a "rehearsal dinner" the night before and just go over how we see it going.  We have booked pastor york for our ceremony also so I am looking forward to that!

Please keep me posted on all your DIY projects! Especially the tissue paper pomanders...I would love to see how those turn out :) I saw in one of the resort pictures that these metal hook things that stick into the sand were used to hang them so I'm hoping to use those. Here's a pic:

As for a DJ I do believe there is a resort DJ...but is it just me or doesn't EVERYONE use DJ Mannia? You're right though...it is a lot of money if you're only having a 2-2.5 hour reception. I wonder if they would charge less for a shorter reception or if its just a flat fee?

We booked Pastor York for our ceremony too!

Welcome Amanda, so nice to have another Feb2012 bride on here!!!! We have no idea on guest #s yet either so I am trying really hard to contain my need to start every project!!!

I LOVE the sheppard hooks Robyn, I didn't realize the resort had them!!! Have you emailed your WC to see how much they are to rent?  I will take pictures of the pomanders and post them later today!!!

Not sure if anyone has signed up for the Vista Print emails but they have a big sale going on.  I would like to start taking advantage of some of their products for our OOT bags etc. but I just can't seem to think of what I want to do!!!

-OOT bag welcome letters

-See you in a month/thanks for booking cards

There's LOTS I want to do but when I go on to design anything I get stumped!!!

I have been meaning to post these for awhile now and kept forgetting, sorry! Robyn here are the DIY tissue pomanders.  Sorry some pictures are side ways.  The green one is a larger size and the white ones are 2 different versions of a smaller size.  I think I will be using the smaller size just because it is easier to transport.  Sorry the pictures arent very good.  The small ones cost about $0.80 a piece so I like the price tag!!!!  I wont be doing white ones though, just did them as a test run!!!

Those look great Tori!! I'm impressed.

Oh and thanks for the heads up on the vistaprint sale! I like the welcome letter idea. I think I am going to put a trip itinerary in each OOT bag. I bought these fantastic duotang folders at Walmart this weekend that are in our exact wedding colors.

(Sorry its sideways) I'm going to print tons of resort info, a wedding week schedule, activity pamphlets etc. to put inside.

I also like the idea of sending a thanks for booking card! Keep us posted on what you decide.

Love the folders Robyn they are so tropical!!!  I think I am going to hold off on my vista print ordering (may try a pen just to see lol) until I have a better idea of what I want to do.  I am so picky and don't want to be unhappy.  Also I have trouble giving up control, if I can do it at home I can make sure it's just right so I don't know if I will even end up using them ....

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
