Hi CamHo
I had 80 people at a wedding there in May of this year (2012).  The wedding was on the beach and the reception was at the ballroom patio. Everyone had a ton of fun so I have no regrets at all.

Tips: Don't have expectations for the wedding.  Just go with the flow of it.  Its Jamaica and you have to understand that not all of them have had the education that we have had. Some staff are absolutely awesome, but some you have to be more understanding with.  This way you won't be disappointed.  And you should plan out the itinerary of the wedding and what will happen since Keisha does not help with this.  I met with her once for 30 mins to go over the times of the ceremony, reception and dancing plus flowers.  That was it.  I never saw her again.  You need to plan when you want to do the toast, who speaks, what songs to play and when, when to do the garter toss and the bouquet toss.  I rented out the night club area which includes the open bar for everyone.  I suggest doing that, otherwise you have to pay per person for an open bar.  I asked for the toast in the dancing area but somehow we got it in the reception area, so just don't be surprised if there are a couple of hiccups – youâ€ll still have fun no matter what.  The staff were super nice and accommodating – well all except for the check out lady.  She was a mean bitter person with an attitude.

If you need a cake person, Selena Cakes did mine. She did an amazing job and it was a Jamaican Rum cake with almond paste.  She does normal American cakes too.  Hereâ€s her website and a link to the photo of my cake.

My cake: note that she makes all the flowers edible.

One more thing, with 80+ people you should work with a Wedding Travel Agent.  We did and we got something like $1000 off our trip price.  Everyone also got a discount.

Destination Wedding Travel Planner / Agent is Carmela Hartman.  She is AMAZING.  One of our wedding photos is on the banner to her site. It's our jumping photo and it was really hard to do in that heavy wedding dress.

Sorry, I don't have a photo from far away on the terrace of the actual wedding.  Keisha can send you photo of the terrace though.  It was nice since it was covered and blocked the strong wind since it stormed on our wedding day. Luckily we were able to get the photos in before the downpour.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
