Sephora Vs. Mac

Tenny I'd go with MAC just b/c their makeup tends to be more high drama....and you want to look sultry for your BD shoot!  Plus, MAC does a great smoky eye with their false lashes.  But I really don't think you could go wrong with either.

If you have time, it would be great if you could book an appt with MAC either at the MAC store itself or the inside your dept stores.  They usually say that you have to buy a certain amount of product to get the makeover free.  You will love them, but everyone has their own taste so go with what is best for you.  I have funny skin, so I stick with what I know best.  Plus Ms. Ellen (my make-up lady) is a MAC consultant so I'm spoiled lol

Hi Tennyt1!  Every make-up artist and make-up company differ from one another. Each offering something all their own. IMHO there is no such thing as "better" when you have an experienced, licensed professional who is applying professional products. It is simply a matter of what you are looking for in a licensed artist. I use MAC and LOVE their products but could never commit to just them. I have favorites in MANY lines.  I would do a trial run with both stores and take pictures of your make-up inspiration. MAC does charge a nominal fee and you can never go wrong with their shadows :)  Sephora has more than one line and can offer you great choices as well.

I've worked in the makeup industry for years, and I agree that every line has a prize product. do your research, and test its wearing power, some eye shadows may work for your bff, but will wear off of you quickly, or run. I do agree though, that Mac is a great place to start, and their make up artists are among the best.

agree with the reccos for MAC. there's a thread somewhere that discusses what type of makeup (foundation, etc) photographs best, and I think MAC was at the top of people's lists (didn't hear too much about Sephora). they have studio makeup intended specifically for use in front of a camera.

if you prefer a less-dramatic look, my fav for bridal makeup is bobbi brown. not sure how well their makeup does in outdoor/camera conditions, but it's certainly the prettiest and softest-looking.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
