ROR private reception question

Recommended Posts

Hi!  I'm having a private pool-side reception at ROR next July.  I saw a reception there when I vacationed at the resort, and it was beautiful.  I loved the stringed lights that were hanging above the bar area.  I was informed that I could get the lights through Tai Flora.

My question is, has anyone else rented string lights through Tai Flora?  I'm wondering if it's going to be outrageous... Has anyone brought their own?

Hi there...I'm getting married there in 2 weeks!!  I'll also be having a poolside reception.  Are you inquiring about the string lights wrapped around the pillars or the lit paper lanterns hung up on the "ceiling"?  I got quotes for both from Tai Flora - the lights wrapped around the pillars are $22 each and the set up of paper lanterns with lights is $400.

Thanks for the reply!  I was wondering about the string lights.  Do you know how many strings it's going to take to wrap the pillars?  Are you going to get both the strings and the lanterns?

Congratulations! Two weeks!

I think it's just one string per pillar.  They quoted me for 8 pillars and I would assume Tai Flora knows this because they do set ups there all the time.

I am helping my step-daughter plan her wedding and she has choosen the ROR.  How do I get a hold of the wedding planner?  Is she employed by ROR or a local wedding planner in Ocho Rios?

What are some tips that you would say are important when planning a wedding at this hotel?

Thanks,

Peggy

I think the wedding planner is employed through ROR.  Her name is Keisha, and she's very helpful.  We talk through emails, and I was given her email address once I booked a wedding at the resort.  Has your step daughter made the reservation through the resort yet?

Thank you for your response.  No, she has not booked as we had some questions.  None of the packages list photographer as an option.  Do you know if they have this as an option and how much?

I hope that your wedding is a blessed day!

Yep, there's a resort photographer.  I'm not sure of his prices, but I bet there will be a lot of brides on here who do know.  I opted to bring my own photographer down, based on the reviews of the resort's photographers.  I'm not sure, but you can try searching for the ROR photographer in the threads.  Good luck!

    • The cooking method can double the calorie content of a meal, so learn about healthy cooking without having to add extra fats, like using a steamer,  a rotisserie , a slow cooker , a pressure cooker, a grill. Once you cook your own meals, you can control the calorie content because your control the cooking method and all the ingredients. A lot of people are overweight because they keep eating food that they did not cook.
    • I have stayed at Dreams La Romana and Dreams Dominicus.  The two resorts are very different in style and decor. A few comparison points are below and fact sheets are attached for both.   Both resorts are approx 45 minutes from Punta Cana airport, close proximity to Saona Island, Catalina Island and Altos de Chavon. Top championship golf courses in the Caribbean are just minutes away including Teeth of the Dog, Dye Fore, The Links and La Estancia – all designed by world-famous Pete Dye. Restaurants are similar at both resorts.  Both offer the Explorers Club for Kids.  Dreams Dominicus  Brand new resort and in 2016 488 rooms (however additional construction was underway) More contemporary style & decor Good beach area Rooms were very nice Preferred Club located in main lobby and adjacent to main pool & beach front Food was good Center plaza area with nighttime entertainment Main lobby is small, but outdoor bar off lobby is nice Dreams La Romana Originally built in 2003 & opened as Dreams La Romana in 2008 756 rooms Recently renovated and new preferred club adults only lounge & pool added  Rooms are more traditional Caribbean decor Grounds are very lush and tropical Good beach area food was good    Dreams Dominicus fact sheet.pdf Dreams La Romana fact sheet.pdf
    • My sister has done it but with the destination wedding, only super close family members and friends came since it was expensive and farther. It was great though.
