PurpleUnicorn was so kind and she e-mailed me Sunset Resorts Wedding packet and it said they charge $250.00 for outside vendors.

FYI - i had my wedding here and everything went off without a hitch!  i had my own photographer and i did not have to pay the $250 fee.  The WC explained to me that they have a contract with a photo company and they have to invite their photographer to every wedding. if not, then i pay the $250. so basically the resort photographer was there, but i just asked him to stay out of the way of MY photographer  ;)

it looked beautiful! Your pics made me more relaxed! Did you have to bring your chair ties? Also the arch on the beach did you decorate it or did they.Im also thinking of doing the private reception. How was the space? Sorry for all the questions! Your the most responsive : )

no problem, i am happy to help!! i brought my chair ties because i bought them online for 75 cents, whereas they would have charged me $6 each.  then they used the same chairs with ties for both ceremony and reception, which was a bonus i was not expecting!   they decorated the arch, but i paid extra for it. It was $550. the purple was a bonus they did for me as a surprise, i was expecting it to be only white. However, if you don't want to pay the $550, this is what you get (my friends pic who also got married there a year before me) - i just thought it was too simple looking and was set on a big bamboo arch. so it was totally worth it for me.

Another huge bonus for me was the area we had the private reception. it was beautiful. it was honestly something i didn't care about too much (decor wise), i just didnt want to be in a noisy buffet or a la carte restaurant.  here is an overview pic of where we ate dinner that my photographer took. it was a covered area outside that was just gorgeous! i had brought my own candle centerpieces as the coordinator told me it was a great idea, but then with the fans overhead, they didn't stay lit!!!  no biggie, they still looked pretty!

Feel free to ask me more questions!!! the only thing i honestly wish was different was the actual area of the beach we had the ceremony. it was small and close to the water, which made the sand more yellow-y looking.  and there were no palm trees.  there were some other trees that provided shade which was nice for my husband and the guests...but me personally did not like them too much.  But overall i was VERY happy.  and there is always the option to have your ceremony at the wedding gazebo.  there are some palm trees there, but its on the grass and i really wanted the beach location no matter what.  however, i was the only wedding that week on the beach, the rest (like everyday there were weddings!) took place on the grass gazebo.......last piece of advice...bring your own music for the ceremony!!!! they have a standard set of songs for brides who dont bring their own, but OMG, i got sick of hearing it all week (like i said, there were weddings everyday), so i was SOOO happy i brought my own music!!! you just have to burn a CD and give to it the wedding coordinator.

was looking back on the thread and saw the questions about cake and florist.  they typically do a standard white cake with white flowers on it. its pretty, but not what i wanted, so i gave them an inspiration picture and they exceeded my expectations!!! i was THRILLED with my cake!!!! here is pic  (i brought my own cake topper).

as for flowers, i was not picky at all, so i just took whatever was included in the package for my bouquet and decor on the ceremony arch. i dont even know kind of flowers they were, they told me they had tropical flowers and i said i only cared about the colors (purple and white).  i will post a pic when i get my pro pics in,  soon i hope!

I just came back from a site visit of Sunset Beach Resort and the website does not really do this resort any justice. I thought the resort looked so much prettier in person! I loved the reception area and the grassy lawn is a great space as well for cocktail hour. The wedding gazebo was gorgeous as well and the wedding coordinator was such a sweet heart too she really took her time talking with us. The whole resort is open aired and it really gives you the feel that you are on an island with the wonderful breeze that blows through from the ocean. The only downside was that there really is not much of a beach and the rooms we saw were outdated (although we were told the rooms in the towers have been updated, but they did not show us one). So other then that the resort was very nice.

Happy Planning:)

i concur with everything you said!!! and the rooms in the towers have definitely been update - we stayed in one of them at first, but there was a mix up and all guests were put in the west wing. so we moved to the non-renovated room to be with them., i was happy with that room too!

i got my pro pics back!!!!  Here is my bouquet that comes included in the wedding package. You can upgrade for a bigger one.  I also found an email from a while back where they told me what kind of flowers they had:   "Your bridal bouquet will be a combination of local flowers such as carnations, daisies, chrysanthemums, & orchids. You will decide on the colors when you get here at the consultation"

oh, wow these pics are huge, sorry!  here is another close up of my bouquet!  (I brought those crystal hearts and the wedding coordinator put them in for me!)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
