JayBerry,

I am also a March 2013 bride. What date are you getting married?

I was told there is a 500$ fee to bring in an outside photographer. A lot has changed from 2011 to 2012. I think those of us who booked our wedding in 2012 (for 2013) are missing out on some of the better incentives. One of the things being the 500$ fee for an outside photographer, and also the fact that we'll need to pay taxes and service fees (16%) on any of the "free hotel credits" that we use. Bummer. I guess nothing is ever really free!

I am renting audio equipment and paying for an MC. I'm still debating on whether I'll pay for a DJ or just rent the equipment though. To my understanding, it is 100$ +16% tax for each additional hour just for the equipment.

That's what I thought too. I think that's how the old policy worked. Now they're charging more because they want you to use THEIR vendors. They most likely lose out on their cut of the money when their vendors arent used. So instead they just charge you to bring someone in. Unless it is for decor, then you can use either Caribbean Celebrations or Creative Punta Cana, both are approved vendors.

ok ladies, here's the scoop.. The Miami office books decor through Creative Punta Cana, the prices are a bit higher and Miami gets a chunk of what you pay. Hard Rock PUNTA CANA books decor through Caribbean Celebrations and theyre prices are lower. you can get their info on the website and they will email you back a detailed quote, send them pictures and they can recreate what you want. They have a facebook page with photos you can glance as well. The owner Jacqueline is very prompt and thorough. You can even call directly to HRPC to verify (like i did) and they will be happy to email you a price brochure- be mindful of international colling cost though. I havent had my phone conference with Lisa yet but she has sent me a TON of photos, options, prices, and forms, so i feel a bit more secure now. Everything from dinner options (a variety of plated and buffet options with prices), ceremony location with resort maps (pictures and key with buildings numbered), reception location options with pictures, cocktail area options and cocktail menu options with pictures, entertainment options (equipment, dj, fire tossers, belly dancers, dominican bands and a bunch of others entertainment with prices for package), liquor options, spa price list, decor through Creative Punta Cana price list and pictures (wedding, reception, and cocktail) some wedding form that needed to be sent, and the venue reservation form to book reception or cocktail sites. she has been responding via emial in a timely manner. For those of you dealing with Renee and are unhappy YOU CAN SWITCH- we did :D.

i have been emailing and getting quotes from Caribbean Celebrations.  I have a phone conference with Renee on May 8th...so should i not tell her that I am using Caribbean Celebrations?  I don't have a contact for the hotel yet as my wedding is not until may 29 2013.

Hmm..you had bad experiences with Renee??  She takes a long time to respond to emails. Was it a pain to switch?

Which photographer are you using if you don't mind me asking?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
