I need suggestions for a Jamaican resort that fits the following criteria

Recommended Posts

I've been about 80% decided on Iberostar Rose Hall Suites for next November, but truthfully I didn't look at many other resorts in that much detail.  Can anyone recommend resorts that fit these criteria? not necessarily in order of importance

- moderately priced (~1300 from Toronto for November, 1 week all-inclusive, all taxes in)

- good beach

- offers location on resort for ceremony, other than beach. I love the terrace setting at the IRHS

- good photographer (not sure we can afford an outside photographer)

- flexibility in reception *** very important. ie. private reception for small parties, maybe on the beach. flexible menu/buffer, flexible times. This is the one thing I don't like about IRHS

- allows children

I'd love to hear any suggestions, and if you have detailed information/ price lists for any resort I would be super interested. thanks so much!

$1300 taxes incl from TO is hard.  If you can manage to get Iberstar Rose Hall Suites for that price than go for it.

Otherwise you are looking at Bahia, and Palladium, and maybe Riu Ocho Rios...if people book last minute.

You'd have to contact the individual resort wedding co-ordinators to see what they offer.  But be prepared to pay extra for all things private and above and beyond their packages.

For a good photographer try Marica Roberts, she was extremely reasonably priced.  I contacted alot of photogarphers and she was $1,000 below Diana & Richard who were the 2nd cheapest.

Thanks. So maybe $1400?  I swear those are the prices I saw late-summer, now I'm beginning to doubt myself.  Are you in Toronto as well?  Do you know what pricing I can expect for IRHS if people start to book in the spring? The price is starting to stress me out now.

I think I did look at Marcia Robers, but I didn't really like her style. I'll check again, thanks for the tip.

I fly from TO.  The thing is if you wait till late summer to book, then there may not be enough seats left for your guests on the plane/rooms left at the resort.  Also, if you are going to wait that long until the pricing comes down that much, your wedding date may be booked.

Ibersostar Rose Hall Suites tends to be a little more pricy.  You should be able to get Iberostar Rose Hall Beach for $1400.

Best prices I have found are either early booking, or last minute.  November is definitely a more reasonably priced month to travel.

Example, we paid about $3500 taxes incl for Couples Tower Isle, Deluxe Oceanview Room.  We booked in May for our November wedding.  I checked the prices almost daily.  The prices went down once, for like $100.  Seeing as it was our wedding, I wasn't too upset as I had to book the wedding, and photographer in advance.  I also had to send in my documents ahead of time also.

Our plane down there was full, and that was on a weekday (so lower prices).

Coming back it was like 75% full.

Thanks for the reply. Maybe I'm remembering prices wrong, it's really bothering me now.  And we're definitely booking the wedding date soon, but the guests don't need to book this early.  I will try to get a hold of some girls on the boards who just had a wedding there in November, and see how much they paid from Toronto.

  • 2 weeks later...

Go see a travel agent....they will be able to access all the prices from the past few years and tell you an approximate estimate of how much it should be per person depending on when you are flying.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
