Hi!

My fiance and I just got back from Cabo Azul last week and are starting our wedding planning! If anyone can give me any insight on anything that would be very helpful. We are planning on getting married in July 2013! What are the best vendors.. for music, flowers, hair. etc etc.

Anything will help!

Thank you!

Ashley

Hi Lisa,

I know you got married last year at CAR, but I was wondering if you could give me any insight on planning your wedding at Cabo Azul. My Fiance and I just got back from CAR last week and Loved it! It was my second time there, and his first. We spoke with Maria and we are going through our contract now, so set a date for Summer 2013!

Any information would be helpful!
Thanks!

Ashley

Hi Ashley - Im getting married there Jan 2013! We have most of it planned, and I hired an outside wedding planner to help, so I know some about outside vendors, but not so much about the vendors Cabo Azul uses. We hired all of our vendors separate from CA - dj, guitar for ceremony, flowers, etc. I would be happy to help wherever I can!

Only thing left we have to do is figure out food choices, without tasting them first. Did you by chance try any of the wedding food?

Katie and Ashley,

Hi! I hope the wedding planning is going well! I recently got engaged, and am seriously considering CAR. Can you please tell me about your experience so far? Katie- I know you said you are using outside vendors for your wedding. How did you go about finding these vendors? Will using outside vendors help cut cost? I noticed that the pricing they had listed on their packet for certain things were unusually high.

Please give me any advise you can! I don't know where to start :)

Hi Lorraine! Sorry I just saw this! Are you still considering Cabo Azul? I hired an outside wedding coordinator - she has been filtering me all the outside vendors. I'm not sure if it's saving me any money, but more I know I'm not getting the "run of the mill" dj, flowers, etc. Let me know if you are still moving forward with CA and I can go into more detail :)

HI everyone!! So I am completely new to this forum thing, but I need some serious help!!! So I am now a Diamond Owner and want to plan my wedding at Cabo Azul, but Georgina sent me the packet of info and honestly this looks crazy!!! I have emailed georgina a couple of times to clarify what I am reading, but she is the worst with assisting (that makes me nervous). What I have goes from 8 guests and cake to 11-29 guests but the price looks the same for the min 11 or the max 29 guests...Does that sound right? Has anyone done a la carte with a guests count under 20? We you able to save money that way?

Hi Smithsquared! I just had my wedding on Jan 5th so I would be more than happy to help! I had 90 people, so we had our cocktail hour by the fire put and our reception at Javier's (I think there is a min # of people to have there but not sure?). We had a sit down dinner of filet and sea bass that came with bread, a salad, and a desert. They wanted $11 or something crazy per slice of cake so we just had them bring out the desert when we cut our small "grooms cake" at 10:00. That cake only cost us $100. As far as the contract goes, we signed the previous contract when it was owned by Monarch properties. I was scared to death when I read it also, I'm sure it is kind of the same. I can try and help answer some of your questions, trust me I had plenty! You feel like you are signing your life away! I also hired most of my own vendors, so can help answer any of those questions too! I flew my photographer down, so that's the only one I might not be help with. As far as Georgina, I worked with Maria and she was always pretty good about getting back with me. But sometimes it would be a day or two, but I found that's just how it is in Mexico. Happy to help you how I can. This is a fun but really stressful process so having just gone through it I totally understand!

Hello ladies,

I've somewhat decided to have my wedding at Cabo Azul resort and have been dealing with Georgina since about Christmas time.  I initially planned the date for 11/12/13 but to give my guests more time to save and give us more time to pay I want to push it back to March 2014.

For some reason, I feel like the resort is seriously cushioning the costs of some things.  I spent a considerable amount of time on the phone with Georgina asking her tons of questions. The packages from the 2012 wedding guide no longer exist and the 2013 packages are for smaller groups that eat inside Javier's.  You would not have a separate private reception, it's just dinner basically.

I've been to the resort twice and am in love with El Corazon which is why I have my heart set on this venue but the costs have really thrown me for a loop.  3 color options for the table linens or it costs more?? The reason is to coordinate with the venue itself but I'm sure it's because it's what they have in their storage and not with an outside vendor so it's basically pocketed money.  I tried to negotiate but that wasn't an option.  You can only try and save costs through the extras like flowers, photo and video.

I contacted one of the "preferred" photographer's directly and he was very responsive however insisted that I contact the resort directly for HIS prices.  Another cost cushion perhaps??

I noticed at least one other bride is currently planning her wedding with them as well.  How's the experience coming along?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
