Are you good at sewing? I don't want anything fancy.. My biggest concern with making my own is the hook part of the curtains. Right now I have vertical blinds, we put them up as a temporary solution when we moved in and now just the site of them makes me sick. lol..

i made mine too - just simple hanging curtains. i bought a sewing machine and everything to make them! lol - and it was still cheaper. i knew i wanted silk drapes, and they were huge windows/doors - so it was going to be spendy.

tammy, i just sewed the panels, and then used the clip on hooks that hung from the rod (and clipped on the drapes) - super easy.

When I first saw the title of the thread I thought it was something to treat your windows to prevent them from rusting or cracking or something like that. Then when you all started giving input I realized what you meant.

LOL. Goodness gracious I am so sheltered sometimes. Being an apartment city girl you don't do much decorating or home improvement activities. Sorry I'm no help. We don't do curtain we just get blinds at like Home Depot or something. (Actually when you move into an apartment the last person who rented it usually leave them there) But if you need advice on cockroach spray I'm the person to call. Eeew. LOL.

I may have to try it. Plus I kind of already know the look I want and it should be somewhat easy to make. I have a nice sewing machine that Cain got me last year ( I made all new pillows for our sofa (about 7 of them)) Hmm, maybe I'll swing by the fabric store this week and see if I can find some fabric that I like..

Ah ha! You see my friend, there is not one single rod in my house. We did valances over the curtains. And to get the look that I wanted we simply mounted the valances and the curtains onto a 2x4 piece of wood. it worked great and I get compliments ALL the time. And nope, not a good sewer... just REALLY easy.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
