Not Happy with my WC so far...

Recommended Posts

So far, I've  not been terribly impressed with my WC and I'm wondering if it is because I simply have the wrong expectations.

Here's my issue:

I don't have much money to work with, so I'm primarly relying on email communcation, and this WC often takes 2+ days to respond to my emails, and when she does respond it is with little detail, which forces me to have to go back and forth a bunch of times before I finally have an answer that suits me. I was so annoyed with her that I booked my rehearsal dinner elsewhere.

I don't mind waiting teh 2 days for a response, if she EVER responded with a solution to a problem, but it just feels like she doesn't want to work with me or offer any suggestions.

The lastest? I asked about placing mini rum cakes in each room as a welcome gift. It took like 6 emails back and forth before she told me the company that makes them only sells will only sell 60 cakes at a time. I then, of course, had to write back and ask her if she had any OTHER suggestions for a welcome gift item, afterall she sees weddings all the time, she's the expert, right? It's just frustrating when you feel as though the person that is supposed to be helping you is resisting you, and offering nothing in the way of solutions to problems.

I've been relying on the catchafalling star WC, Andrea, for help with some of my issues. If Catcha Falling Star could host a wedding of 80 guests, I would TOTALLY have my wedding there.

I'm having the same issue with my WC at Round Hill. I saw a wedding at the hotel somewhere online that featured a photobooth, so I asked her about photobooths, and she asked me to send her the picture! She's been the WC there for years! And no, I never get any alternatives whenever something I ask for is too spendy or can't be done.

Anyone else having this frustration?

Hi Wedding Coordinator,

What time does the 2 for one cocktail hour occur?  I'm designing my invitations and would like to include this information.

 Hi Lisa,

This is available at the pool daily 5-6pm.  Please note that on the wedding day this service is not offered!

Hi Wedding Coordinator,

I know. Remember we discussed holding a Welcome cocktail hour with two cocktail food options for each guest for the Friday before the wedding? You even quoted me a price. Should we include this in the contract and resign?

Hi Lisa,

We did discuss the welcome cocktail hour but we didnâ€t confirm.  If you are confirming I can definitely add it in the contract.  Please advise.

Hi Wedding Coordinator,

I've pasted below our last communication about the fee for the 2 for one cocktail. My guests cannot have all they can drink. We will pay for only 2 cocktails per person.

If we permit each guest two cocktails and include appetizers of mini jamaican patties and crackers and cheese how much would it cost per person? Average? Also, can you send me this sum in Jamaica and American Dollars? This would cost $12 per person and this is $1020.  Please note that the cost per person is based on our 2010 rates and the exchange rate today there maybe a flexibility in price.

Can you please include this in the new contract and resend.

Hi Lisa,

To be clear…each guest would once at the bar and they would get 2 drink? Or one person can order twice… Also how will the bartender be able to tell that he already serve someone who may come back for a second drink.  I think the best way to do the beverage is set an amount that you would like to spend and based on my calculations cocktails for everyone would be $600 not including tax and service.  The prices are based on our present beverage price
$1020 (before tax) in Jamaican is presently $86,700 and $600 is $51,000.  Please advise.

Hi Wedding Coordinator,

Each guest will be informed that I'll only pay for one ( two for one drink). So each person can order two drinks for the price of one.  I will only put that amount on the bar, so once that is up, they'll need to pay for their own drinks.  Can I pay for this now to lock in the price of the drinks and cocktail snacks? I'll need the price, plus tax, and plus service fee. The entire amount in jamaican and american dollars.

 Dear Wedding Coordinator:

Ok, but I'm confused. Why are you giving me two different numbers? $1020 and $600?. I just need one number in jamaican and American dollars for the cost of the drinks and the snacks. Is that : $1224 and in Jamaican its $104,040.00

Hi Lisa,

The total with appetizers and drinks is $1944 including tax and the Jamaica amount is $165.240.00

As you can see  she did finally send the total fee, but of course, I still havenâ€t seen it in the new contract. Iâ€ll have to write yet another email requesting it.

What a nightmare! What you're asking for is so simple and I'm sure she's done something similar before. She is, afterall, a WC!

Maybe you can give her a call one in a while to iron out things like this? It may get pricey but at least you could maybe have a bit of piece of mind. Either way, I hope it gets better as your day gets closer.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
