Beaches ~ Turks & Caicos Roll Call!

Recommended Posts

Oh WOW Kendall!  What a great idea!  Thanks for sharing :)

MTruvillio, the flights out of Knoxville tend to start at $700 including taxes and fees, but we used miles for one of the tickets.  If I had planned better I would have used my miles credit card to rack up more miles by making purchases and then pay off the card each month, oh well.  If you don't want to buy your tickets yet, I have an idea.  You can receive notifications on flight rates as they happen from MKC to PLS.  Just go to Fare Compare's website and enter in your travel dates and choose "watch this flight", then sign up with your email address and password of your choice.  Then once you purchase your flights, just go in and remove the "trip" you're watching and they will stop notifying you.  I hope this helps :)

Glad I could share something helpful!

The girl at the scuba shop called and asked the "skipper" if he would be willing to do it because we wanted to do a snorkle trip, but had more people than they take on the hourly trips at the resort.  He agreed. I believe my husband tipped the skipper and his assistant after the excursion -- but it was definitely cheaper than paying to privately charter the Katt!

Wendy - Our airfare (out of BWI) was like $500 per person and that was for this past May.

Hi everyone! Just wanted to let everyone know that supposedly the reason wedding can't take place on the beach area in front of Schooners anymore is that the weather last year washed a lot of the beach area away and they said its just too narrow now to set up chairs/arches/photography right there, so the only spot to get married on the beach is to the left of the property. Which I personally ended up liking better. It was alot more private, and the deck/stairs going down to the beach in front of schooners is not very pretty in my opinion. They REALLY need to stain the deck, it is gray and cracking and surrounded by weeds. Also, Julluella- as far as scuba diving, my husband and I went, and it was tons of fun.. HOWEVER.. **ALL brides*** beware that they only allow a CERTAIN number of people reserve the "included" scuba and snorkling trips. They FILL UP FAST! We were very dissapointed that we only got to dive one time, because everything was already full. Also, you cannot dive until you go to their orientation, so as soon as you can, go to the dive shop and reserve the days you want to go. I had NO idea that all the scuba trips would be booked. My husband specifically got certified for this trip. (looks like we will have to go back) msnwink.gif.... the one dive we did get to go on, was pretty cool. It was a little dark because there was not much sun, but it was still fun... and we saw 3 sharks! 1 HUGE shark swam right past me!

Those of you that have already been to Beaches...

Are the room keys similar to what you get on a cruise?  Do you have suggestions on how to carry your room keys?  I was wondering because on past cruises, we have made a "hole punch" in an area of the room key that doesn't destroy the magnetic strip or other info, then attach to a lanyard.  I was thinking of having lanyards made for everyone in my group, and providing the "hole punch" with my puncher at our first get-together.

Let me know what you think!

Thanks, Wendy

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
