Thanks Coco...1 month? well I hope they can figure it out.... I got the tangerine package so it will be unfair if I cant get the bridal room....

Good news about the sashes and table clothes! :)

The only thing Lianny told me about my deposit was that my time and place (ceremony and reception) wasnt 100% confirmed until I placed the deposit. She didnt really give me a timeframe, I do have to say that once I paid Lianny became more responsive and answers all of my questions.

Coco...

If you go online right now and try to book through there, I think the last available date is during the first week of September so you might be able to book earlier than a month prior to your wedding. I've been going back on a weekly basis to see when they'll open up spots for the rest of September. I'll keep you posted if spots start to open up.

Not going to lie I am a little worried about this because if there is more than 1 wedding per day, and the weddings are close together in time...not too sure how the spa will handle multiple bridal parties and families....not too mention the bridal room...if there is only 1...how are they going to split it???

Heard back from Lianny this morning, and good news is that the chair sash's and table cloths are included in the price....but the silver plates are not and ar $3 a plate...which made me kind of laugh!! I am sure the plain white plates will be just fine haha!!!

Does anyone know if once they give you the invoice if the deposit is due right away? I originally was going with the Min Breeze which didnt require a despoit, but now that I am doing the Starberry passion I have a 30% deposit due that I am not ready to pay right this second, so I am hoping they give a little bit of time to get it in!!!

Disazaja,

This was quoted to me last year so prices might have changed since then:

The $12 is just for 1 drink.

1) Cost for cocktail hour, per person/per hour including drinks and hors d'oeuvres? $10usd x person with canapes and a cocktail $ 23 usd x person included canapes and national open bar for 1 hour.

4) You can book all those things separately meaning not at the same time but you book it all through your WC. The spa though I'm not 100% sure if you book on your own or through your WC. The other two are through them

5) I have my favors...since its a fall wedding they're bottle openers in a shape of a leaf...nothing fancy and they're small, easier to carry.

Hope this helps.

also... I have more questions...

1. So the price for cocktail hour is $12 per person and this includes canapes and drinks? or just one drink?

2. What are the possible locations for the cocktail hour?

3. Does anyone know anything about the cake flavors? I asked them if I could do some cake tasting during my visit in August and they said no, only food tasting ($50 per person).

4. Do we need to book the DJ, tropical pictures and spa separetely? or do the WC take care of that? (assuming no outside vendors)

5. Has anyone boutgh favors already? any ideas?

Thank you everyone!!!

Hi ladies,

I'm new to this forum but have read some pages of it and have found it very helpful.  I wanted to know, I've just started planning and have put down a deposit with my travel agent for BBPD for April 2013.  I've also spoken to Susana and asked what dates are available out of the three I emailed her, and she said there was a couple in March and one in April.  I filled out the reservation request form and sent it back to her with the package we picked for the April date.  Does this mean that my date is confirmed?

Just found out though that the date I picked - my younger brother wouldn't be able to go because it's during his exam week.  Have any of you had to change the wedding date after it's confirmed?  How likely are they to make this happen?  Also, have any of you had to change wedding package after you've submitted the form?  We picked the Strawberry Passion package, and it's for up to 25 people, but we might have up to 35-40 ppl.  Would we be forced to pick the Tangerine package, which is more expensive, for up to 35 ppl?

Any prompt response would be greatly appreciated.

Hi ladies,

I'm new to this forum but have read a few pages and found the information you've all shared very helpful.  I'm hoping someone here can be of help for me too.  So I've just put in a deposit with my travel agent today for a week of April 2013.  Before, I've also spoke with Susana, and emailed her 3 dates for her to check for availability.  She responded this morning with 2 dates in March and 1 date in April.  She told me to fill out the reservation form and send it back to her so I did.  Does this mean that the wedding date is confirmed?  If so, how likely (if date is available) are they to accommodate a change in date?  Have any of you ever had to do this?  The date that I picked turned out to be during exam week for my younger brother, so if we can't change the date, that means he won't be able to be there.

Also, have any of you ever had to change wedding package?  We picked the strawberry passion package, which calls for up to 25 ppl, but we are willing to pay for extra ppl up to 35ppl total or maybe even 40 ppl.  However, if we end up having 35 ppl, would they force us to pick the tangerine package, which is for up to 35 ppl?  Strawberry package for 25+10 still works out cheaper per person, rather than picking tangerine package for 35 ppl.

Any prompt response would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks!

Hi teena-

Not sure since you have made the deposit if the date can be changed, but if it is available I am sure it wouldnt be a problem.  The problem will be waiting for them to respond to such a request, I think.  But since you have a ta you could use her/him to try to get this done for you.  If you have filled out a reservation form with a certain date and then sent in the deposit it is my understanding that that is your "contract" and yes it is confirmed.  But like I said, I would just ask to have another date and I really don't think it would be a problem. I only would say that if you confirmed your reception site, that may change as they do i think three weddings a day at the resort.

Also you can change your wedding package, but that will require another deposit if it is the larger one.  They will not force you to get the tangerine if you have 35 ppl, but will charge you 50/person to attend the wedding over the 25.  Hope this helps.

I just went over this question about the deposit with my TA. She says not to worry about loosing the date if the deposit isnt paid right away.  Especially if it is in such a large advance, she told me more than 30 days even and it would be fine. What I would do is just send a little note to them and let them know and you should be fine. (if you have to make a deposit for your reception area, that may be a little bit more pressed.)

Teena: you are only allowed to upgrade your package. They wont allow you to downgrade it and furthermore they wont make you upgrade if you have additional people to the next package. As Natalie said you would be responsible for the per person cost past the 25 people. Although you find it cheaper to pay the additional cost per person as opposed to upgrading to the next package I will say that really look at what the next package contains. Sometimes its the little costs that add up and you end up ultimately at about the same price as the higher package. If you have read through the pages here you know there are so many hidden costs that its insane! Congrats again on your wedding =)

JRM - thanks sooo much, this would be greatly appreciated!! Could you send me the link to where you are checking online for this?!?! I will e-mail with Lianny and see if this si something  I should be doing on my own or through her!

I did e-mail about paying the deposit in a month and she said that it was totally ok! I was impressed I received 2 e-mails from her in 1 day...pretty sure thats some sort of record haha!!!

For those of you getting the Tangerine package (aka the most expensive one) I would make sure you double check how many guests are included in the dinner! I know the package states up to 35 guests for everything else, but on the wedding package info sent to me from the WC it states 3 hour private dinner (for up to 25 guests) so you may still be paying extra for anyone over 25...not 35....so just be care ful there!!!

WOW coco good catch on the Tangerine Dinner Package I have just emailed her to get clarification on this. I am going to flip my lid if I have to pay for the extra $10 people to eat when I am paying for a wedding package that is specifically for 35 guests!! Sigh....I am really starting to loose my patience with all of these hidden extra costs!!! Will keep you posted when I hear back from  her.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
