  1. Hi ladies! I haven't posted in a while!!! I am glad to know that the weddings have been great and I love seeing all te pics So I got my wedding certificate from BBPD this week, does anyone know what I need to do with it to make it valid in the US? Or is it already valid? Do I have to get remarried by the court here again? I have no idea what's next! Thanks!
  2. Hi Natalieblev I think if you pick "tropical flowers" the bouquets are 30.... I had yellow lilies and some green little flowers (no idea of the name LOL) and they were 30... Thanks
  3. Hi NettyD I used Apple... for me the biggest advantage was that they provided airport-hotel transfers and I was able to keep track of guests who were going easily....they arrival dates and times as well another big advantage was that I got a BIG discount for myself.. I think it was around 1,500 because of the amount of guests that paid for half of our honeymoon.
  4. hi Parrish! I borught it with me! I got it on etsy from butterfly enchantress.... they have beutiful flowers!!! they are handmade and look real
  5. Hi girls! I forgot to mention! You get a wifi code as a club premium guest and you can share this code! Also, you can get as many codes as you want! So my husband and I asked for 4 and have it to some of our friends and family... The other club premium guests do the same so almost everyone had wifi! The wifi gets disconnected when you aren't using it so you have to keep logging in but at least you can communicate somehow! Also, here is the video! It is long because it has part o the ceremony! We didn't get te gold video package bc the husband felt weird being recorded while he got ready lol https://www.dropbox.com/s/bgzvms3c6hzv1x9/Boda%20Barcelo%20Deluxe%20-%20Marzo%2023%20-%20Diana%20and%20Andres%20HD.mp4
  6. Actually I don't know ahahajja we decided to do a group shot and they have us that! Hahaha they were good!

Diana: I know you brought lanterns with you for the reception space but they didnt use them all. Can you give me an idea of how many you would say they actually hung up? Also, were those the large lanterns or small and did it look right with just the few. Just thinking if its even worth bringing them or not, and if it made a difference/statement...watcha think? Trivera! I brought 48 (bc of the color mix 12 yellow, 12 pink, 12 orange and 12 green) and I brougth a mix of small and large... so like 24 and 24... My husband counted them LOL he is a control freak ahahahahah he counted 30ish some of them maybe broke sonce they are very delicate... they did give it a colorful touch but I was going for that... I would just ask her upfront like how many you should bring... Alos, the lenght made a difference, some of my were long enough but some werent so they got lost with the drapes.

I did see children at the club premium. yes I brought the cake topper, cutting knife and the decorations I brought for the tables were also used for the cake table.
  9. Quote:Originally Posted by soloparatijc Hi girls! Ok so my wedding is finally coming up on July 27, 2013 and I couldn't be more excited! As I'm finishing up the selections for extras I noticed that their online quotes for extras are super inaccurate to what they are quoting us through email...for example: online the bridesmaid bouquets are still $30 and the international basic DJ for the reception is still $488! I was thinking of going with a live tipico band for the reception as my fiance is also dominican & i think it would be cool to include part of the heritage but they only cover two 45 minute sessions all these price changes are driving me crazy as I see from the previous posts you ladies can relate. I'm really glad I found this blog and am able to connect with everyone and find out so much info that I wouldn't have been able to find on my own! Susana told me that I could choose my own cake design but when I showed her what I wanted she says only white is included :/ can anyone confirm this is true because I've seen photos with colored ornaments or flowers. I'm also debating whether to do the couples massage included in the tangerine sunset package before or after the wedding...anyone have any suggestions to when it worked for you best? soloparatijc so my cake was both white and green, and it had color orchids and it was included. I had the massage before because I was leaving on my honeymoon the next day, the lady at the spa said we were the only couple who did it before LOL
  10. Quote:Originally Posted by natalieblev Thanks for the great review Diana! You looked beautiful as did your wedding!! I loved the chapel! I begged them to let me have my wedding there, but since Im not catholic and would be having a pastor they said no! Oh well. Thanks Natalie!!! Couple questions: I reserved the Panoramic Suite-does this mean I will be on the adults only side? no Panoramic Suites are on the BBPD, You will probably be upgraded to a bigger suite but you have access to everything since you will be part of the club premium, you have access to everything on the adults side too. We are the only ones who got club premium, but I wasnt aware that the Japanese restaurant was CP now and had planned to do my "rehearsal" dinner there....Do you have any other suggestions for a restaurant that is great but on the BBPD side? if your other guests are staying at barcelo bavaro palace deluxe, they will be covered. The only ones not covered are the ones staying at the adults only side. I liked the food at the mexican restaurant, I think Lianny also mentioned at some point having the rehearsal on a private small reception hall. You might want to consider that. Did you eat at Hoya 19? Is it good for dinner and drinks? I didnt, but some guests did. They liked the food and it was definetly more calm and quiet and that other restaurants. They just said not to order the wraps LOL Did you do any excursions? yes, I did the side by side one... It is a boogie and it stops at a beautiful natural lagoon. Some guests did the santo domingo excursion (take a whole day) and some others did horse back riding. I got good reviwes from the horse back riding one. In flower options, Did you see any options for garden type flowers rather than the tropical ones? I have only ever seen calli lillies, orchids and roses...is that all they offer for bridesmaid bouquets? yeah thats pretty much what they offered... I think Lianny suggested colorful daisies but it didnt go wiht my decor. Do they charge to use the small votive candles for Bar H decoration? I actually brought those with me, I got them really cheap at a wedding decoration warehouse in Miami. Were the cocktail apps tasty? yes, they were good... the one funny thing is that they have seafood ceviche in a mini individual bowl... and no spoon or fork... so we called it the fish shoot LOL THanks in advance! And Congratulations again!!
  11. Quote:Originally Posted by trivera5521 Diana....welcome back!! You looked absolutely stunning girlie! You rocked that dress (loved it) and I cant thank you enough for the detailed review! It's so helpful to us upcoming brides! A few questions: Thanks Tamara!!! here are my answers You flew out of NY on what airline? What did you do with your dress...carry on? I flew out of Newark on United and flew back to LGA (stopped in DC for 45 minutes) My mom brought the dress as carry on on American from Miami. Did any of your guests use the resort credits, I'm still a bit confused on how this works? we all got a book full of coupons for the salon, wine bottles, spa, golf, casino, some bridesmaids used them for their hair on the wedding day. Would LOVE to see the video tropical pictures did when you get it? I will try to post it on youtube and send you the link! it is bit long since it has the cermeony etc. In your opinion did the MC make a big difference in the flow of the night? I think he helped us manage the timing.... but If you dont get a MC I think the WC will be doing that for you. You said there were no hidden fees/charges...so the DJ was $1300 plus the add'tl hour, bridesmaids flowers $30, additional people for rehearsal dinner were how much? The additional guests for the rehearsal were $15 each, only the ones with no access to the Japanese restaurant. Did you play any music during your/bridal party walk down the aisle, how did that work out? yes, the organist played something, cant remember what LOL it was nice. Your welcome bags were awesome! Was there anything you felt really was used by your guests or not really neccessary? I think the bags themselves were used by everyone at the beach, the advil and alkasetzer too, I think the spf wipes and bug wipes werent as used. Anything you would do different? I will clarify the flowers with Lianny, real vs. fake and I will make sure that she uses all the decorations I bring.... or be clear on whats doable and whats not so I didnt buy a lot of things that werent going to be used. Did it rain at all while you were there? yes, so I was there from 03/19 to 03/30... it rained on thursday and friday, 03/28 and 03/29... 03/30 was just cloudy... let me know if you have more questions! Thanks again for your review and taking the time out to answer all of our questions.
  12. Quote:Originally Posted by Parrish Great Review! Thanks so much! How did you work the dinner reservations for yourself and guests? Did you just let them know where and when you were eating or just let everyone do there own thing? When did you make the form you handed out in your welcome bags with times and location for your guests to be for the wedding. Did you know the details before you left or after you met with the wedding planner? Thanks! Parrish, so as soon as I got there, I did reservations for dinner for myself and 2 more people for wednesday, I made a reservation for 6 for Thursday and I just went with my parents on wednesday and some close friends on Thursday. I recommmended guests to make reservations as soon as they got to the hotel and most of them did ithem. Also, since I was there welcoming most of them at the lobby I showed them where to go and recommended the best restaurants. Some of my guests decided to make reservations together for 6-8 and they let them do it. For breakfast everyone did its own thing, but for lunch since we were almost all together at the adults only beach we just ate all together at the buffet. I had the pickup location for the weding day but not the time so I just left a space and then had to handwritte the time once it was confirmed with Lianny.
  13. Bjeantil, we agree on the location like 3 weeks before the wedding, it was on bar carey. The time wasnt set, but I need it was going to be on the PM.... I just made the letter left a blank for the time and them I filled that out after my meeting with Lianny on Tuesday. I had the welcome cocktail mostly so guests would be entertained after the wedding and I could take pics freely, I used the trio during cocktail hour and people loved them, during the ceremony I had an organist since it was at the chapel. hope this helps!
  14. hi girls!! here are all the pics! WARNING!!! there are 414 pics ahhaahha https://picasaweb.google.com/disazaja/March312013?authuser=0&authkey=Gv1sRgCKexqvPIlI6pRA&feat=directlink
  15. hi girls!!!! I am back from my wedding and honeymoon!!!! this is going to be such a lenghty post but I am trying to be as detailed as possible!!! let me know if you have more questions and I will post pictires later today!!! some wedding background... catholic ceremony on the chapel, 50 guests in total, tangerine package, reception at bar Higuey, 4 hours of reception (paid 1 extra hour), used tropicla pictures for pictures and video, used the DJ the resort uses, brought a lot of decorations with me but also got some centerpieces at the resort, wedding planner was Lianny, stayed at BBPD from 03/19/13 to 03/24/13 then moved to Majestic elegance for honeymoon from 03/24/13 to 03/30/13. wedding colors: tropical, mostly hot pink and apple green. Used apple vacations as my travel agency for the guest rooms and I loved working with them bc at the end I got a HUGE discount! my honeymoon was half the price!!! ok now the details! got there on tuesday at 2 pm, loved the airport, easy customs, bring $10 in cash to pay the entrance fee... got to the resort and I paid for the jr deluxe suite ocean view.... they upgraded me to the panoramic suite! and wow! it was huge and beautiful!!! totally worth it... they had champagne, rum, and t-shirts for us there. meeting with Lianny at 4 pm went smooth, she had my file ready, we went over cake details, flowers, we met the photogrpaher (Sofia) who is really cool and sweet, as well as the DJ who was also cool and definelty understood what we were going for... we had more female guests than males so we wanted more of a group party, not like couples dnacing merengue or bachata and he nailed it.... we set the rehearsal time wiht Lianny and we agreed on meeting on thursday to give her all the decorations, and make the final payment. after the meeting we went to the seafood restaurnat, I personally didnt like it but it was ok... then we went to put the welcome bags together.... Wednesday, guests started to arrive, we had the couples massage! great massage and the facial was amazing! no extractions, just peeling, mask, a vitamin C cream... my skin was radiant afterwards, we stayed at the hydrotheraphy (club premium gets access to this daily) and it was nice too, it was fun. We started to run to the Bavaro Beach (adults only) bc most of our guests were staying there.... this is important... BBPD guests in club premium can go to the buffet, and bars at Bavaro Beach, BBPD guests not in club premium can go to the pool and beach but they wont allow them at the buffet or bars at Bavaro beach (adults only). Bavaro beach guests have access to everything at BBPD but they have to pay $15 for the japanese and french restaurants. If they are club premium on Bvaaro beach they have access to everything. We had a 1 hour (it turned into 2) casual photoshoot on the beach with tropical pictures and the pics came out amazing.... it was part of the Gold package (more about this later) Wednesday we went to la fuente, spanish resturant and it was better than the seafood... good paella! at night we met some friends and went to the show at Bavaro beach, it was micheal jackson night, it was fun.... Thursday... we didnt stop all day!!!! welcoming guests, running around, met Lianny at 6 to give her all the decorations, some candles for the tbales, crystals for the centerpieces and lights, some paper pompons for the ceiling, some floating lotus for the pools around Bar Higuey, tbale cards, tbale numbers, guest signing book, fans for the ceremony, and some crazy hour hats and masks.... we proceeded to make final payment nad no surprises on prices or anything... only thing that was wayyyy more expensive was hte confetti machine, I thought it was 250 but it was 850, so we got rid of it! then at night we went to dinner at the mexican restaurant, it was really good! then went to the club and it was empty at 11 but then all the guests were there so it was fun! Friday we welcomed some more guests, hanged out at the beach, played volleyball and then had a welcoming cokcatil at the rooftop of the spa, the infitiny pools terrace, everyone lovedddddd the venue, we rent it for an hour and had cocktails and appetizers, by cocktails I mean one type of fruity drink but unlimited LOL if anyone wanted somethign else they had to walk to the bar... we gave out guests the welcome bags which they loved.. the welcome bags had a pen, lipbalm, koozie, advil, alkaseltzer, pepto, sunscreen wipes, hand sanitizer, mints, bug repellent wipes, thank you note, wedding day pick up time and place, guest list with room numbers. After the cocktail, bridal party, parents and us went to the chapel for the rehearsal, Lianny was there and it was relaly quick, 15 minute max.... after we headed to the japanese restaurant for the rehearsal dinner, we were 24, so it worked out perfectly, we got 2 hibachi tables.... we only paid for the guests staying at bavaro beach and not in club premium, it was only like 8 of them.... food was really good and we started a war of which tbale was the loudest LOL it was a fun time! after that it was sleepy time for me... but the guests went to the club again and they had a blast..... Saturday! wedding day! woke up early, and got breakfast in bed with my mom.... club premium gets free room service, the food was good! then started to get ready to head to the spa, where my bridesmaids (6 of them) already were doing their hairs and makeups.... 5 of them did their hair their as well as my mom, 2 guests, 2 grandmas, and myself and everyone was really happy with the result, they have the latests hairstyles and are very accomodating and sweet.... Yaniri castillo ( i think that hers name) was the lady that did my hair trial and makeup before in september and she remembered me... she did my hair and makeup I loved it! only thing is that I brought my makeup since they dont have a lot of colors there.... so according to Lianny, we could had lunch at the spa, since I had club premium I had to just et room service delivered to the spa, well no, they dont allow food at the spa or bridal suite!!! I was starving! and they wouldnt let us bring food, so they offered us cookies and fruit but that wasnt enough LOL so my stylist suggested my mom and the MOH to sneak food in their bags LOL they went to the sports bar, got mini sandwuiches and cookies and chicken fingers and we all ate there LOL so keep that in mind... I had no other time to eat before!! tropical pictures went to the groom's room (our room) to take getting ready pics at 3 and she took my getting ready at 4, I lovedddddddddd the pics, you will see them later as well as the video, both the photographer and videogrpaher were really nice and professional.... we got the birdesmaids bouqets and mine and Lianny met the guests and took them to the chapel on the train.... then she came to pick us up in golf carts..... the chapel had the submerged orchids on the floor and some flowers on the altar.... cermeony was short, the priest was sweet and nice, after we had group pics, then bridal party pics and our pics taken on the beach, la fuente and japanese restaurnat trees..... everyone was enjoying the cocktail hour at hoyo 19, next to the chapel, guests said the appetizers were good and same unlimited fruity cockatil as on welcoming party.... we got to the reception at bar Higuey at 730... it was decorated beautifully.... however, I could notice right away.... not all of the floating lotus were there (Lianny later explained that the weight string was too short mmmmm idk about that) and all the pompoms werent there either....w.e it was beautiful anyways but I did get bothered about that...so be careful about what you bring and how many.... Maybe I bourght way too many and it was a lot of work for her.... also, the orchids on the centerpieces ($50 each) were fake!! yeah probably only my mom, mother in law and I noticed but still, Lianny never mentioned they were fake or anything! I could have brought them from Michaels!!!!oh well..... cake was amazing! the flavor and decoration! I went wiht vanilla with dulce de leche filling, the food was amazing too nobody complained, actually guests said it was the best food of their whole stay... we picked the caprese salad, fish and creme brulee.... the music was great and the MC was great on keeping track of time and when to do things like the toast, the bouquet toss, etc etc.... everyone had a balst.... Lianny srated giving out the hats, masks, and neon sticks for the hora loca and everyone went crazy!!! it was really fun.... when the 4th hour was almost over, Lianny asked me if I wanted another hour, but I said no, we just met at the club after going to the rooms and changing!!! we danced unitl 4 am and it was sooooo much fun!!! then we went for midnight snacks at strikers and thats how our night ended.... once we got ot our room, it was full of petals and realy pretty.... ohh we also had the photobooth at the reception, it was ok.... 350 for an hour and they gave us a CD with the pics.... i dont think it was worth it! Sunday we got breakfast in bed, packed, went to say bye to our guests and headed to the majestic for our honeymoon. So I hate to compare but I am glad I picked the BBPD for my wedding, the majestic was nice (it was my second option for the wedding) but it wasnt as big, not as many restaurants and people werent as friendly... I dont know what all those tripadvisor reviews aboiut service at BBPD are about!!! they were so nice and sweet all the time! at Majestic everyhting was a hassle! and they wouldnt say hi to you.... it was nice bc it was my honeymoon and we got to relax and spend quality time but it has nothing to compare to BBPD! also, things are as well kept, like you see little things here and there that are annoying.... that never happened at BBPD, all the gardens, beach, pools, restaurants were decorated so nicely and clean and pretty, at Majestic I missed those things!! anyways so I went to pick up the pics and video at barcelo punta cana, next to majestic and to my suprise, Sofia edited 400 pics!!! the gold package only includes 150 :S ugh I couldnt pick so she gave us 3 opitons, like more pirted pics, all in cd, etc... we ended up picking all the pics on CD and a DVD slideshow, 2 posters, 15 8x10 pics and the video, but we had to pay more :S the husband was not a happy cmaper bc he feels they did it on purpose LOL they knew we werent going to be able to pick only 150 out of 400 pics LOL oh well you only get married once ahhaahahhaahha in conclusion!!!! i am soooo HAPPY I picked BBPD! the other resorts dont compare!!! we also took a tour so the bus stopped in other resorts and noup... nothing like it!!everyone had a blast!!! nobody got sick! and dont believe on the tripadvisor reviews.... ohh try to speak spanish as much as you can, they do like that!!! but if you are nice to them, they are really nice too!!! I will post the pics later! some friends have posted pics on facebook (Diana Isaza, disazaja@gmail.com) already and have tagged me! you can add me on facbeook if you want to see them.... and ask me any questions
  16. Hello girls!!! I am still on my honeymoon! Can't wait to come back and write my review and share pics with all of you! Wedding was perfect! Best moment ever! Hair and makeup was excellent as well as DJ... Only thing I am not happy about is that Lianny used fake orchids for my centerpieces after I paid $55 per each!!!! Oh well but even with fake flowers they looked so pretty! I will be back on Sunday!
  17. MissJali I am by Long Island City, where the pepsi sign is!! TRivera, I choose the jr suite hoping they will upgrade me to the panaromic, which depends on availability LOL.
  18. Trivera!!! I cant wait for the big day! I will bring as many info and details as possible! as many of the Barcelo brides I got an Allure dress LOL it is a lace dress in A line so it is easy to carry! My mom is actually bringing the dress with her because she didnt want the groom to see it hahaha She is flying on American and she is going to bring it as carry on! I hope it doesnt get wrinkled!!! I am in queens but I work in manhattan, we should definetly try to get together for lunch! that would be fun!
  19. TRivera! it is such a confusing thing! I have found different websites with different dates. I told everyone 9 months just to make sure they dont have any problems. on another note, I am leaving in ONE WEEK!!! wohooooo I am so excited!!! please let me know if anyone has specific questions or wants pictures of something in specific.... I will try to get back with as much info and pictures as possible!!! Cant wait to be there and get married!
  20. Hi the "fireworks' are really sparkles. hope it helps! Diana
  21. Hi Samantha! yeah the food tasting was like 50 per person and the hair and makeup trial was like 140 if I remember correclty.
  22. MissJali, when I did my site visit I sat down with Lianny for like 2 hours, we went over the details I wanted: cake flavor, flowers, cake decoration, prices, things I could bring with me, logistics, we did a food tasting, and hair trial. I basically went over the whole wedding with her. I took notes of everything we have discussed over email before and we went over that. I definetly recommend doing a food tasting if you are undecided and the hair trial and makeup was good too, it made me realize that I had to bring my own make up since I didnt like the color selection they have there and even though I liked the hair I want to make some adjustments for the day of the wedding. Hope this helps!
  23. Natalieblev, I remember seeing small coffee bags on the stores at the airport. I dont remember seeing something like that on the stores at the resorth though. They also sell small Barcelo Rum bottles that could be used as favors. hope this helps!
