Natalie,

Congrats on your beautiful wedding, you looked amazing!! Such a relief to see those great photos from TP since I've been considering using them as well. Thank you also for the tip about Group Palmera.

I would love to see pictures of your centerpieces and decorations as I also plan to bring most of my own decorations and materials since I've heard they seriously overcharge for anything other than the basic centerpieces.

Congratulations again!!

Club premium for the bride and groom is the way to go if you can! Free room service, they bring bottles of rum and champagne to you, keep your fridge stocked, bring you extra water, you dont have to worry about getting towels everyday and turning them in, check in is a BREEZE, service is awesome, making reservations for dinner even for 10 is easy, and the rooms are amazing right on the beach!!

Also- In my opinion three hours is just not enough for the reception. By the time we had the food, toasts and first dances it would have been almost three hours by then and wouldnt have allowed us any dancing time. ALL of my guests said that was the best night not just cause it was the wedding but because we were all together, able to dance to our own music selection, had private bar service, etc. Even adding the extra hour ahead of time, when Arise came up and said last song I was like WHAT!!! Time just flies. It was my husbands idea to extend yet another hour and we are so glad we did, cause even with that one we all still were in party mode when it was time to go!! Plus, you want your wedding to last as long as you can right? :) And the resort is so huge some nights it was hard to get everyone together...so the wedding night was for sure the best time!!

Natalie, you have really outdone yourself with that review. Seriously. Awesome. THANK YOU.

I'm sorry to hear your rehearsal dinner reservations got mixed up. But it sounds like you still had a wonderful time. Appreciate the recommendations for TP and the excursions. Will definitely keep them in mind. So happy for you!  I think after reading your review we're all extra excited!

Couple of questions...

-I'd love the see the jars and paper flowers you used for your centerpieces. And your other decorations too!

-Your bouquet is beautiful. Did the resort make it? If so, they did a great job.

-How was the tenderloin for your reception? Did you find that a lot of people asked for a different dish?

-Did you have your ceremony and reception music played on an iPod?

-Were your guests that stayed on the BBPD side sad that they couldn't come to the adults only side? Did you tell them in advance that they had the option of staying on the adults only side. I'm thinking of doing this.

Hey! Here are a couple of pictures...the mint green flower was on top of the smaller jar, but my mom took it off when we got there and put the bridesmaids bouquets in instead.  I didnt bring too much...the hanging things you see in the first photo my mother in law brought and they actually turned out really cute with the sweetheart table and jars.  I had a friend make me the painted jars for really cheap (so sweet of her) and the flowers were really easy to travel with and we just made them when we got there. I brought the boutineers myself and also brought a succulent for each bridesmaids bouquet to make it flow and they added the real flowers with it and it turned out really nice! After I got rid of all the welcome bag contents I was worried that i had really nothing for the wedding...but let me say NOONE cared what my centerpieces looked like.  The only real thing anyone was saying were how pretty the watercolor paintings I had were (instead of table numbers we did states with a heart painted inside of places that meant something to us, and many were from those states that were there). I didnt bring much and Im really  glad I didnt! :)

Hey!

thanks so much!! It was a blast! Im sad its over honestly, and i didnt think i would feel that way!

But-

I posted some pics on here, and also i have some more on my fb. I think i may have added you just now.

I made my own bouquet with real touch flowers and brooches from my mom and ones i got myself. It was a pain, but very worth it! I added two charms of my grandparents pictures and it was very sweet when my mom saw her daddy on there. I love that i can keep it forever now. I did bring one succulent for each of the bridesmaids bouquets and all the boutineers. (Saved me 60 bucks).

Im going to be honest, after three days of steak i didnt even have a bite of the steak at the reception! But everyone said it was great! I ate some of the veggies and the salad was SO good! The dessert was amazing as was the cake, but i have to rely on my guests opinions for the steak!

Yes, we used a regular ipod. Travis just cleared it out to make it easy and then had Ceremony, First dance, Parents dance, and reception so there was no confusion at all.

This part I have to say I didnt even realize we werent allowed over there haha! My guests all stayed at BBPD (i did tell them about the adults only, but everyone booked at the palace)...however, I had no clue we werent allowed over there (i thought it was the opposite and the adults only werent allowed at the palace)...so people went, we went...there were no problems ever. On the wedding day the girls had to cut off our resort bracelets for pictures, so the next day i didnt have one still. But I went to the pool, the bar, club premium lounge, and never even had a problem. Not to say you wouldnt, and maybe they would kick you out of the AO resort I have no clue! But they didnt us! They did however catch my young sister in law (16) come into the casino/nightclub IMMEDIATELY with a silent censor so dont try that! :)

Pastor York is AWESOME! He is really wonderful and Im so glad I reached out to him. Having religion in my ceremony was my #1 priority! I wanted the chapel, but if it is not catholic they wont let you use it.  He is from the Church of Christ and can do symbolics at any location of your choice.  He has you sign a certificate infront of all guests so that it feels very offical too.  He could def do the pier. His cost is 350.00, but so worth it if its important to you.

There was no issue at all with having him come...no fees, not even a day pass fee...Arise knew him well as she has worked at other resort wedding departments and called him by a first name basis. I had no fees whatsoever and no issues when i told susana he would be coming just an OKAY no prob!

I do have both his scripts. Send me your email address if that is okay with you and ill send you his scripts which also include his email. He has a traditional and a more modern, both religious. (But he is not catholic, so it would not be a catholic script). He also allows you to add in readings, take stuff out, etc whatever you want to do! Our guests brought school supplies for the new preschool his missionary is opening in August and he was so sweet accepting them! I really like him alot!

 Natalie,

I hope this isn't a dumb  question but if Pastor York does the ceremony, is it legal as well? I already have a judge booked for the exact date and time that I wanted because I was under the impression that unless it was in the Catholic church on property, a religious ceremony would not be considered legal. Unfortunately, my fiance is previously divorced, so as much as we'd love a Catholic wedding (both raised Catholic), that can't happen. It is important to us to have religion in our wedding, so we may get married in another church we found outside our Catholic parish here at home, but we'll see. I'm torn because I want my family to witness the "official" wedding since this is my first.

I'm going to send you a friend request on facebook! I want to see the rest of your pictures! I had been a little iffy on Tropical Pictures but am very impressed with how yours turned out!

Honestly Im not really sure if he is allowed to do legal weddings. I never considered doing a legal ceremony there, so i just straight away asked for the symbolic when speaking with him. The thing is though, it was just as real to me as it was to my guests. I wanted prayer, words from the bible, a minister, blessings over our marriage because acknowledging God's presence was my number one. He does all of that, and when he has you sign your marriage certificate in front of everyone I dont see why anyone would question whether it was legal or not. Noone ever asked me after at all. And for me it wasnt so much important about the legal part as it was so stand in front of my friends and family and say you know I am here because of God and he will always be the number one in our lives in order to have a successful marriage and that is what Pastor York does. I would not have been satisfied had I not hired him. (I even had them read from the bible at the courthouse when we got our legal ceremony done.) :) There is a forum on here about him that might answer the legal question just search Rick York. Hope that helps!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
