Any brides from Canada?

Recommended Posts

Hey Abbie, I 'm getting it done here before i go. My friends had a bad experience in mexico withthe doctors so i feel alot safer signing a paper rather than giving my blood.

I have a question for all the Canadian brides, is anyone doing the paperwork before they leave? I call it "paperwork" because I don't consider it getting married before you leave. I'm still debating on what to do. I'm just paranoid of anything going wrong and I'm wondering if anyone has done or is planning on doing the paperwork here before they go. I know a lot of brides are doing this but I'm curious to know the process for Canadian brides to do this. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Regardless of what we decide my wedding day is in Mexico, not signing papers downtown. haha

Hi,

I don't think there is much of a difference in cost for a leagl ceremony. You will have to pay for the bloodwork and then to have your documents translated (I'm not sure if that is done there or at home). The cost of the actual wedding package should be the same for symbolic and legal ceremonies (at least it is at my resort). I think if you explained to your FI all of the reasons that everyone has pointed out then he may also see the benefit in doing the legal stuff at home. It's hard to say because everyone will see it differently but hopefully the two of you can come to an agreement of some sort :)

I think that depends on the resort... we're getting married at Dreams Tulum, and things like the bloodwork and translations of documents are not included in the wedding packages.  We would be paying an additional $400 to be legally married there!

But to avoid all the hassle of paperwork and wait time (and FI is scared of needles lol) we were also going to secretly do the paperwork here first.  But hearing that some of you chose to do it after, I'm thinking thats actually a better idea!  That way I wont feel like we are lying to our guests either  wink.gif

Hi Abbie..We are getting married April 29th, 2011...at the Tulum Gazebo. But staying at Coba. Have you been to the resort before? We went there last year and it is absolutely amazing!

We've been to alot of resorts, and this one by far is my favourite!

We are bringing our own photographer, even though a fews pics are included in our blissful love package from the resort photographer....just wondering if the resort will be upset with me since I don't want their pics??

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
