Newbie with a lot of questions!! Royal in Cancun!

Hey everyone!

I am so excited to have found this website.  My fiance and I just set our wedding date for December 22, 2011 and we are interested in having it at The Royal in Cancun.

If anyone who has stayed at The Royal in Cancun or has had their wedding there has any suggestions or photos, they would be greatly appreciated!!  The resort's website looks beautiful, but I would love to see some photos from guests who have stayed there.

My assigned wedding coordinator is Katia Nunez, if I decide to book it.  I am just apprehensive about one thing...the beach isn't private.  I would assume most people would be respectful of a wedding ceremony and stay out of the pictures, but I'm still nervous.  Did anyone experience this at their wedding?

Again, and advice would be great!  Thanks!!  woot.gif

Congrats and welcome to the forum  cheer2.gif  There are a ton of brides on here who had their DW there.  You can search under the search tab for the Royal.. And you will find SO much helpful info there!   I wish i could help more or give you some advice, but i am a Jamacia Bride...But one thing i will tell you is prepare yourself, this site is very helpful and addicting :)

Good Luck and Happy Planning.

Congrats and Welcome!!

I'd suggest going to tripadvisor and looking at more photos that ppl have posted.  I love doing that because it gives you a real look at everything...instead of the perfectly modified pictures that most websites have.

I am honeymooning in Cancun.  Great place!!!

I recently stayed at the Royal in May as I was doing my scouting and it is a beautiful resort but I will say - the weddings are not entirely private.  I have some pics at home that I will send you later of a wedding going on while I was there.  The wedding ceremony was just in front of the main pool and bar area so all of the people who had been drinking all day were shoved against the end of the pool watching the ceremony.  Nothing wrong with that - but people can be noisy sometimes and they were hooting and hollering at the bride as she walked by (alcohol tends to highten the lungs).  For that reason, I chose against having my wedding there as I want something more private.

They do the same thing with the outside massages - they are right in front of the pool and restaurant so everyone can see you as your trying to relax.

But - I still can't say enough about how great the service was and how beautiful the resort is.  Gorgeous rooms!  Highly recommend getting the swim up suites so you can guarrantee yourself a lounger and pool floatie.

Good luck!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
