Paradisus Punta Cana (PPC) Brides POST HERE!!

I'm still trying to decide on PPC. So far it is what we are leaning towards, but my three major concerns are bad food, little nightlife, and poorly cleaned rooms (e.g. dead cockroaches). These seem to be common complaints about this resort and its making me second guess my decision. How did you ladies get passed these reviews? What made your decision in the end to go with PPC? I've done my research on many review websites, and I'm sure there is some element of truth in this. Palma Real seems to overcome these issues (maybe not the nightlife one), but I'm not sure we can afford to stay there and our guests. Please help!!

The price for La Barcaza is $60 a person for 4 hours, for the mixed grill (chicken, beef and veggie kabobs),  $65 for seafood grill, and $70 a person for seafood and mixed grill. you also get banana flambe, tostados, etc. You can pay $10 a head for appetizers that look yummy, or $15 for apps plus this lobster dipping sauce plus shrimp.

 

It's open bar (only have rum) and beer. If you want other liquor or wine I think you have to bring it with you, which you can do. They will decorate for you for pretty minimal charge, or charged $100 for you to bring your own decorations that they wiill set up.

 

I've heard nothing but good things from them! I'm so excited about our trip!

I visited several resorts in Punta Cana before deciding on PPC.  I have to say the food was the best here and they have several restaurants to choose from, nightlife was good as they have a live band come in nightly in the lobby and then the disco opens at 11 pm or so.  However, the cleanliness thing was a bit of an issue for me.  I had booked a Royal room when I stayed there for 3 nights last December, and although the room was mostly clean, I couldn't get over the rug which was NOT clean.  I found out they don't use vaccuums, so they sweep their rugs with a broom, which, as you can imagine, isn't the standard we use up north.  That really was my only complaint regarding cleanliness and after I complained 3x and threatened to speak with the General Manager and take pictures and send to their corporate office, they sent up a housekeeper who spent 45 minutes cleaning it.  Still wasn't perfect, but much better than it was when I walked in.

Thanks for the honest feedback! I'm glad you enjoyed the food...that has been my top worry about the resort!

My fiancé looked all over the caribbean and several things came into play. First we wanted to get married in January or February which is high season and most places were very expensive and unlikely to cut you a deal.  Second we were expecting a large group (we have 85 people coming) and a lot of resorts outside of Mexico and the DR can't accommodate that large a group.

Finally, in the many resorts I spoke with, I noticed you have to chose between having a more-expensive wedding, but having your guests pay less or having the wedding for almost free,  but your guests paying much more.

 

I found PPC to be a happy medium.  For what they are worth, having an english-speaking office to deal with in the US is a plus.

And now that I have visited down there (we did a love at first site trip)  I see they were very organized and willing to please.

 

As for the food, we're from NY and are complete food snobs.  I have been all over the caribbean and no all-inclusive resort with the exception of a smaller higher end on one Jamaica has ever blown my mind.

That said the food here was good over all.  The buffet (which I generally find to be the most deplorable part of these places) was great. We really enjoyed the Italian place.  The hibachi was just ok.  And the steak house, while having good steaks, had funny appetizers like Chili cheese fries and buffalo wings.  Not your traditional steak house fare.

 

The pizzas and burgers were questionable, but if you like fresh fish, salads, fruits... you will be fine.  No one will go hungry.

 

As for cleanliness, we were upgraded to a Royal Service suite and it was spotless.

They did come later in the day than most resorts to make up the room though and we did notice those tiny ants but it was nothing I was concerned about

 

If you read through I think you will hear from a lot of happy brides.
