Paradisus Punta Cana (PPC) Brides POST HERE!!

Recommended Posts

I read a lot of negative reviews as well and they were officially pushy trying to get me to book. I decided against using them. But also turned out that a good friend of ours who is a professional photog agreed to do our photos. He's amazing so I am thrilled and cant wait to shoot my wedding pics and TTD with Denis! because he is a guest of ours and staying at the resort i dont have to pay a guest pass. If your photog is only comiing on the resort for the day of then you have to pay $120.00

I have emailed Teresa, but you guys are usually faster... is there a fee at PPC to bring in another photographer?

I was at PPC in 2009 but stayed in the Reserve which was fantastic. I have been reading negative reviews on the rooms as well and I am hoping its not the case. I am going to send a note to my WC at PPC and ask if there is a way to put a note in for the reno'd rooms for my guests. Fi and I get a free upgrade but i want our guests to be happy. The reserve and royal service rooms are amazing and i am hoping because we are going off season and its not as busy that they will upgrade our group :)

Everyone else--have you stayed or had guests stay in regular rooms and were they okay? The reviews are sort of freaking of me out. It sounds like things are okay if we get into the rooms that have been renovated. Does anybody know what buildings to request to get in the good "normal" rooms? I'm worried about our guests quality of stay.....

Also, does the resort offer any excursions/tours?

Thanks!

Janet1480thanks! That was my plan as well (a note to the WC/on-site coordinator requesting renovated rooms for our guests). Our wedding is October 1st (we're arriving 9/26) and I'll definitely let folks know what we find.

I'm a little concerned that they're going to say, "Oh, all of our rooms are great!" or something comparable so I was hoping folks could relay in what building(s) they've stayed so we know which ones to request (or avoid).

Regardless, it sounds like I'm not completely off base with making the request. At least others are doing it too! Here's hoping all goes well :-)

I will keep my fingers crossed for you :) One thing i can say is that they are super nice and very accomodating so if you got a room you hated and told the front reception i wouldnt doubt that they would upgrade you

I cant wait to hear all about your experiences and wedding day and especially see your pics :)...I leave soon after you come back. We fly out Oct 22nd :)

Okay, ladies, I was e-introduced to our on-site coordinator yesterday--Jennifer Alvarez. Anybody have any experience with her (good or bad)? My pre-wedding coordination with Lauren left much to be desired and I really don't want the same experience with our on-site coordinator. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Janet1480, I'll be thinking of you on 10/22! We depart 10/13 so I'll miss you by a week or so. I'll try to find a few minutes to write up at least a quick review soon after the wedding in case I have anything helpful to say :-)

Jennifer is great! I met her last year while I went for the site inspection and she guided me through the whole process, she speaks english and is very efficient, answers all questions/finds solutions and gets back to me in a timely manner. Super sweet girl and knows her wedding/ppc stuff :) I'm sure she will make your day go smoothly.

Hi ladies!!

My name is Jasmin and I am getting married 1 day before bike girl (May 9, 2011) at PPC!  I am so excited and I know the time will go by super fast!  I feel like I am on top of things at the moment.  I just ordered my wedding dress (eee!) and I am getting Pastor Rick York to officiate and HDC photography for the pictures.  I went with HDC on the recommendation of a high school friend that used them for her wedding at PPC (small world!).  I also found that emails were promptly responded to and I was having difficulties communicating with Photo Souvenier.  I am going to go with the Chill Out Chic package and then upgrade the bouquet, I think thats it though.  Everything else seems so expensive and I don't want to have any surprises when I get the final bill.  There will be about 25 people that are going to be there so a small, intimate wedding which I think is ideal for Martin and I.  We have 14 confirmed guests so far from Calgary, Canada and now we are working on getting flights and packages for Martin's side of the family coming from Germany.

What are people doing for their honeymoons?  Staying at PPC?  Going to another resort?  I think we are going to go to Zoetry for our honeymoon (at least I want to) but we are still weighing options at the moment.

Good to meet everyone!

Hi Jasmin!

I'm from Toronto.  Wondering if you wouldn't mind sharing what the costs were for your guests roughly for your May wedding that just past.  We are trying to find a beautiful venue at an affordable cost to our guests as DW seem to be the trend these days, they have more than one for the year.

Was the Chill Out Package what you expected?

Did you get a discount on the package with the amount of people you had?

Did you have to decide on the package right away, or did you have time, depending on how many guests confirmed before you decided on which wedding package to do?

Also, did you use of PPC house photographers?  If so, who, and what package did you get?

Sorry to bombard you with questions...I'm just super overwhelmed and any help would save me from pulling my hair out.

Thanks,

Jenn

Holy moly!  I definitely hit the destination wedding planning jackpot in coming across this thread!  This is extremely helpful!  I have fallen in love with the Paradisus Punta Cana resort - all via pics - for my destination wedding.  My FI and I dont have a wedding date picked yet, but I'm thinking along the lines of November 2012.  I originally wanted September, but after lengthy conversations with my parents who are both from DR they convinced me November was a far better option due to hurricane season as it tapers off in October.  Plus..hotel & flight rates are still good in November.  My FI wants to do a site inspection at PPC, but I really dont want to spend any of our budget on a site inspection when there is sooo much info available especially on a site & thread like this!  I also have zero idea on many of the details..but what I do know is I'd love to book a gazebo or garden ceremony.  I'm not crazy about the idea of walking thru sand in my wedding dress or having bystanders in their bikinis and swim trunks gawking at us during our ceremony, lol!  And for the reception..I really like the idea of a pool area reception.  I've seen several pics and it seems like you still get the outdoor feel (without sand), and it looks festive with the lanterns, yet casual-chic...served buffet style food.  I actually really like the look of the Casual Chic package colors and may punch it up with another bright color - I like the bright orchids and neutral brown but still feel like it needs 1 more pop of color - either lime green or bright blue.  However, the Aqua Package seems like it offers more.  We are probably having about 50-60 people attending our wedding..and my FMIL is practically harassing me (lol) about having another party when we return for another 100 guests or so..I cringe at the thought of that..I feel like 50 people is already too much for a destination wedding but well...that's a whole different thread.  Anyway, as I learn more info about Punta Cana and PPC I'll share.  Im visiting the DR as a tourist - my last visit was when I was 8 yrs old but my parents visit every 2 to 3 yrs to see their extended families.  I can't wait to share my Dominican heritage and culture with my future in-laws who are Italian-American!  Best wishes and happy wedding planning to you all!  : )

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
