Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

I did a site inspection about 2 weeks ago. My fiance and I loved the place and picked it over Paradisus Palma Real. I hope more people post information :)

Hey!

I'm schedule to go for a site visit early next month to both SSCC and Paradisus.  Any pointer??  Anything I should make sure I check out?  How long was the site visit?  I'm trying to squeeze in a visit to Pradisus and SSCC on the same day.

thanks!

Hi Everyone!

I too am looking for more information about Secrets Sanctuary. We are planning to have a very small wedding about 10 people - our parents and siblings. I am just wondering for the Brides that did a site visit how the options of the different ceremony places look (Private Island, Seaside Terrace, Ocean Terrace and etc)? Also since we are having a small wedding, ive been debating about just considering using one of the restaurants like the Steakhouse vs the Blue Marlin preset menu, if anyone has any comments about these restaurants. Maria the WC no longer works there and the Banquet Manager Andrea is handling the weddings for now and she is taking forever to respond to emails :(. Hope anyone can help!

Thanks

We have our date booked there for may of next year...at first it did take a little bit of time for the WC to reply back, but I did not struggle with that, knowing the date was over a year away!! Hopefully with the transition of the WC everything will still be in line!! I am soo excited, super obsessed with checking everything out about the property!! My concern is that it is a bit pricey compared to other All inclusives however for me it was the fact that it is all inclusive, no kids, the pictures were beautiful, from what I read it is not over-crowded, and the same goes for the beaches. If anyone wants me to share any of the info I already have just let me know and I would be more than happy to share!!

Thanks for the advice Winniethepiglet! Thats a great idea because I am going crazy waiting her responses. I have a friend getting married at Zoetry also, its a beautiful property!

I agree with Ikw5468 about the prices being steep and I will also be having non-resort guests and the wedding packages only include food for on-site property guests so I have to pay an extra price per person for the reception food for my non-secrets guests. But I have fell in love with the property and I dont think I would be happier anywhere else, so Andrea and I are still working out the details. Im sure it will work out in the end!

Good Luck!! I know I was very upfront with the guests and letting them know how much it was going to cost. However when they see the website and the pics...they are blow away as well!! The hardest thing I have now is to wait...297 days til we leave...not that I am counting cheesy.gif

Hey ladies!

I just got back from my trip to the DR and had a chance to check out SSCC.  As expected the grounds are as beautiful as I imagined they would be.  The Cap Cana area is very socluded and private with heavy security to the town.  SSCC is small and has an exclusive/intimate feel to it.  Andrea (which is serving as the wedding coordinator until they hire someone) was very helpful.  She showed us around the entire property.  I do have to agree that the price is pretty high compared to other all-inclusive in Punta Cana but average for the Cap Cana area.

There are other places to hold your ceremony/cocktail/dinner party which are not listed on the wedding packages.  Being that we're having a religious ceremony, we can't hold our ceromony outdoors b/c the priest will not married unless its a closed space.  The private island is small...note, you can only have your ceremony there if you have 30 or less guest attending.  The private Island cannot hold too many people.

As far as the wedding packages, I got the impression that they can pretty much cater it to your needs (of course at an additional cost).  They also work with DJ Mannia for DJ services which I've heard they're pretty good.

As far as the rooms, they were ok (at least the junior suite).  I have to say that I was not impressed.  It was nice but I guess I was expecting more ...

Beach- very small....if you don't mind, it won't bother you

Lastly, the people that work there are very polite and friendly which was a plus in my book.

Overall, I got what I was expceting.  I don't think any resort is 100% perfect but you have to balance out what's important to you and what you can live without..at least that's how I see it.

If you want any more specifics, PM me.

hope that was somewhat helpful.

The site visit def gave me some peace of mind before booking at this resort.... We're aiming for July 2012!! can't wait!

Best,

D

Hi ladies!

I cannot believe that the time is flying by!

Our site inspection in April was amazing and we feel so assured about our choice. We decided to do a beach wedding and are going to have our reception in the Blue Marlin palapa over the ocean. We decided to do the ultimate wedding package and upgraded the food and drink packages. I chose my flowers from the choices they offered (orchids) but was wondering what anyone else was doing for decoration? I spoke with Andrea at the resort, as they are between coordinators at the moment, and she made it seem like options were endless. I also am unsure about what to do for entertainment. If anyone has any questions I am more than happy to help!

Linds

ALSO: what are you doing for rooms?

I am not sure yet what we want to do for decorations...im torn between doing my own or just have them take care of it. I love orchids and def want them as my flowers as well, was there an upcharge for them, i know they havenit as an option but didnt knpw ifmthey cost extra. Also did you decide on linens for the reception, i recieved an email with an attachment...but didnt quite understand the pricing!? I know Andrea has been great with responding to my emails even though theynhave been going through the transition! I homestly can't wait! I have just been working with a travel agent for rooms...i wish we could have booked as a group but we were unsure if we would have 10 rooms filled...we are just staying in a beachfront room just to save some $$ but would have loved a villa!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
