PPR and PPC Brides Updated Thread

Recommended Posts

Hey Ladies,

Not sure if you all noticed, but our old thread has dissapeared.  I figured now is a better time than any to start a new one!!!

I have booked my wedding at the PPR for April 14th, 2011.  I am getting right into the planning stages and am super excited to chat with everyone about our ideas.  I went to go book DJ Mania today, and he directed me back to PPR.  Apparently he is contracted out by them, so we get priority for our weddings, and we don't have to pay a guest fee.  I think it comes to $750 for three hours...which seems alright.  I have to ask my friend who booked him privately for her resort what the fee was.  I think she said $800 for four hours...but PPR said our reception is only three.  I just want to make sure that we get the same prices, and that they are not raised because he is contracted through them.

Also, just looking into photogs...I really like Michael/Phil Steingard...is anyone interested in sharing?  I haven't got their pricing yet, but they are based out of Canada, so I don't want to have to pay for their plane if that is the case.  I know they do a lot of weddings in DR, so I am interested in seeing what his fees include.

As for invites, I am about to email out a STD...however I still have to create it.  I want it to look very pretty and sophisticated, but I am horriable with PowerPoint etc.  Any suggestions would be awesome.  I am also going to get someone on esty to do my Passport invites, I think her name is Sarah Spourili...sorry about the spelling!!!

And finally, I have to book pastor york...once that is all done, the fun DIY projects begin!!!

Looking forward to starting this new thread and hearing everyones suggestions!!!

Natalie

Natalie,

thank you fro starting the thread again. I was wondering what happened. I hope they put it back up because there is alot of helpful information in there.

there are alot of brides who have used Phil/Michael. You don't have to pay for travel. they include travel in their rate. there is also another photographer out of canada that is starting to do more DR weddings www.taitphoto.com. There pricing is similar to MIchael and Phil.

You will also need to book Pastor York through the resort.

Hi Natalie,

Thank you for opening a new thread; I am not sure what happened either what happen to the old one, but I hope they put it back; it was very helpful for new girls that are getting marry at these resorts.

My wedding is booked for April 16, 2011 at PPR. We can’t wait!!! So far we sent our STD, most of our guest are already booked to stay with us at PPR and we booked a photographer last week that is also staying at the resort for the for the wedding weekend. Sucks that we have to pay for air and hotel for the photographer but he is totally worthy.

You are right, PPR reception last 3 hours; additional hour will be charged 16usd/adult guest. We are thinking on adding on another hour but we are not too happy on adding  at least another $1000 to the budget. But what can you do, I don't want to feel rush in my wedding day.

Glad to see we have some posts up and running in here!  I hope as well that the old thread comes back.  I have made Tammy aware of this, but she seems to think it may resurface eventually?  The PPR has said that Pastor York is $450...do we know if that is the price he charges all couples, or just couples staying at the PPR because he is contracted through them.  I recall one of the girls on here saying it was only $300?  I know that they would have to add the pass for him to come on the grounds for the day, but that still shouldn't add up to $450.

Dania - we are going to be there the same week!!!  This is super exciting - is your photog going to be there on Thursday. I would consider looking at his/her work and possible sharing?!

Let me know.

Darn it!!! I am not sure about the package yet. I need to talk to the WC more to find out how much I can change things in the packages. I like what the Aqua gives you...but those are not my colours...so I am all over the place. I like the way the Fanatsy package looks, but it doesn't include all the stuff I want.  So I am totally confused. What about u?

^ I, too am undecided if I should go with the Aqua or Chillout package -or- go with the free/smaller package and just do everything else a la carte. Hard to say how much you actually save with all their nickle and diming.

Their pricing is so confusing! I do have a feeling I might just stick with either Aqua or Chillout just so I don't have to stress about adding everything myself. As for the colors, I thought you could choose whatever colors you wanted for Aqua and Chillout...the main difference is the setup of the reception tables and the type of food you get? Someone correct me if wrong.

Okay thank goodness its not just me. I've been looking for the original thread for FOREVER! So much helpful information and pictures have been lost. :( Well approx 90 days til we are in Punta Cana and I am soooo excited. In case anyone hasn't bought luggage yet Macy's is having a HUUUGE sale on luggage sets including free shipping and an extra 15% off the ticket price. I'm getting ready to buy mine right now.

Oh btw, does anyone know how much the outside vendor/day pass is? We booked an outside photographer and my wc is apparently pre-occupied with something else.

thanx

Hey Bikergirl,

I didn't know that about the colours and the packages.  I am going to ask my WC asap...she gets back to me quite quickly.  Also, I did confirm that Pastor York is $300 for hotels not affiliated with him, so why do I have to pay $450 because he is contracted with PPR...that is insane.  A pass for him to come on site can not be $150...I am finding out about this tomorrow as well...and I will update you all.

I was told from my WC that I had to contact Pastor York myself and book him.  He has agreed to do my wedding and the rate is $300.  I was also told by my WC that I did not have to pay for a guest pass for him.  I am staying at PPC.

    • The cooking method can double the calorie content of a meal, so learn about healthy cooking without having to add extra fats, like using a steamer,  a rotisserie , a slow cooker , a pressure cooker, a grill. Once you cook your own meals, you can control the calorie content because your control the cooking method and all the ingredients. A lot of people are overweight because they keep eating food that they did not cook.
    • I have stayed at Dreams La Romana and Dreams Dominicus.  The two resorts are very different in style and decor. A few comparison points are below and fact sheets are attached for both.   Both resorts are approx 45 minutes from Punta Cana airport, close proximity to Saona Island, Catalina Island and Altos de Chavon. Top championship golf courses in the Caribbean are just minutes away including Teeth of the Dog, Dye Fore, The Links and La Estancia – all designed by world-famous Pete Dye. Restaurants are similar at both resorts.  Both offer the Explorers Club for Kids.  Dreams Dominicus  Brand new resort and in 2016 488 rooms (however additional construction was underway) More contemporary style & decor Good beach area Rooms were very nice Preferred Club located in main lobby and adjacent to main pool & beach front Food was good Center plaza area with nighttime entertainment Main lobby is small, but outdoor bar off lobby is nice Dreams La Romana Originally built in 2003 & opened as Dreams La Romana in 2008 756 rooms Recently renovated and new preferred club adults only lounge & pool added  Rooms are more traditional Caribbean decor Grounds are very lush and tropical Good beach area food was good    Dreams Dominicus fact sheet.pdf Dreams La Romana fact sheet.pdf
    • My sister has done it but with the destination wedding, only super close family members and friends came since it was expensive and farther. It was great though.
