i'm thinking about making large luminaries for each of my table centerpieces. wrapping each luminary with a ribbon (in wedding color) around the middle. then printing the table numbers out and putting one on the center of the ribbon.

did you have any support in yours to make sure they stood up? anyone recommend how i would go about making sure they could stand if i do large luminaries? maybe a foot wide? i was thinking of some type of thin wood (balsa) or something like that.

ideas appreciated! i'm just starting out the planning!

Alicia,

I had the same exact questions.. I really like your idea too about the table numbers. yeah i think we could have my dad or fiance make circle bases for them.. Also i think it might need something else around it to give it some substance like flower pedals or shells or something else. what do you think??

The luminaries for table numbers or place cards that are for sale on etsy normally say that they use heat resistant double sided tape.  (If you do LED lights or the battery tea candles, then the heat resistant part isn't important.)  The etsy sellers all say that the velum they use can stand up on its own.  However, for having an outdoor reception they suggest putting a votive holder in the middle.  One seller (who was selling luminaries that were larger in diameter than others) suggested putting a wine glass in the middle and putting the light source in the wine glass.

I think luminary table numbers is a great idea, but I don't want to have to pack votive candle holders and I am not sure if I can expect the WC at my resort to put the wine glass in as support.  What do you ladies think?

yes! i agree that the table would also need something else... i have actually been thinking about it more and instead of putting the table number in the middle on the ribbon, i might just put our monogram there. then i saw some other cool ideas for table numbers and i might do something with them in frames. so it would add something else to the table. i may do something else small too, but i also don't want it to be too cluttered either.

i also like the wine glass idea! it would also help to light up the upper section of the luminary. especially if you put a few at the bottom and one at the top in the glass.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
