El Dorado Royale (EDR) Brides - POST HERE!

Recommended Posts

Thanks for all the advice Ladies!

We do have Gazebo 55 held for us as of now but I may change my mind. I just don't like the rock wall and bushes behind you... I want the sand and ocean right behind us! So we may do the bamboo gazebo. And we are trying to avoid all tradition things:) no first dance, cake cutting, etc. so I was thinking a private dinner on the beach where there is no dance floor.

How about Photos? That is my MOST IMPORTANT thing! Did you guys go with the resort photographer or someone outside?

I hear what you are saying about the rock wall!

We are bringing our photographer with us. She's a good friend of mine, and I absolutely adore her work. I couldn't imagine having anyone else shoot our wedding.

If you want the sand and ocean right behind you....I really liked the Casitias gazebo across from the Italian restaurant. It's a white structure, but nothing else close to it. Really a great location-although it's a bit of a walk from the main hotel rooms.

(bunch of pictures I took in January of all the wedding locations, if the link doesn't work, just click on my user name and scroll to the bottom where my photos are)  http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/gallery/album/view/id/104294/user_id/27758

Citlali of Claudia Photo was the most amazing photographer EVER!!  Book her if you can! In my review of her on this websitehttp://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/products/claudiaphoto-wedding-photography/reviews/4212 you can see some of her photos or on her blog and you can see how the rock wall looks too. I liked it because it made for some great crashing wave photos! And I love the picture of me standing on the rock wall with the ocean in the background! We only booked her for 3 hours so ceremony, some time for photos and then she left mid cocktail hour. I wish I would have booked her longer(but you know how budgets go!), she is an amazing artist and so nice! http://www.citlallirico.com/blog/archives/2761

Omg your dress is absolutely beautiful! Everyone says I should cut off any train so I don't have to deal with it on the beach, but clearly this wasn't an issue for you... how did that go?

I've heard great things about Claudia photo, and your picture looks beautiful, too, but unfortunately they're not ont he approved vendor list for EDR anymore :(

That is a big bummer, Allie. I'm going to try to prepare myself for that, too.... it sounds like people are always initially so excited about it but then when you get to the actual trip there are a lot less who actually m ake the commitment.... I'm having a hard time trying to plan anything because we have no idea how many people are even coming! Final payment is due Nov 15th (I made it a month earlier than it has to be to try to cushion for last minute issues) so I suppose we'll see as it gets closer!

it does feel crappy, regardless of whether or not I expected people to drop. it's still a bit of a shock when it happens. I know we're all in the same boat.

Ugh- so much drama. But thanks- it is a bummer, because they knew very well and shouldn't have allowed me to plan my wedding around their vacation time. So annoying.

85 days is going to FLY! I'm so jealous- hooray!!! woot.gif

Sorry to hear about your bridesmaids (congrats on the pending arrivals, but bummer that they are dropping out).

I don't think she'll be traveling to Mexico at 8 months prego... I sure wouldn't (even for a friend's wedding!).

We are officially at 89 days until our wedding, and 85 days until we leave. I'm soooo ready!!!!

Thanks for your input, girls!!! However, I already bought the David's bridal dress, so it's kind of a done deal. Every friend except for one said it is exactly the same as my friends and said not to worry that they'd help me find something else... in other words, obviously I couldnt' get the dress even though it was similar. :(

I thought about talking to my friend about it and what not, but I know how girls can be and I didn't want anyone having any snyde thoughts in their head or any bad feelings. So, it's best I guess that I chose something else.

Luckily, the belt from DB for the new dress is only like $70, and our seamstress is amazing and alterations are usually only 100ish for wedding dresses, so I will end up saving a considerable amount of money in the long run, but with a comprimise. Oh well- I feel better that you guys think the new one and the Adorae look similar- at least that means I'll get the look I want.  The DB dress has a much less shiny satin fabric, significantly less rouching and I don't know really waht else.... but everyone who saw it said it was definately different enough, so whatever- I think I'll be happy once I stop pouting.

P.S. Just found out that the same bride is wearing hot pink shoes with her dress which is exactly what I've planned all along. ARGH. I hate being one of hte last ones to get married- everything has been done!! I'm still wearing hot pink (or coral, rather) shoes, though- not going to comprimise on that one! msnwink.gif

And Jill, I have 8 bridesmaids... or technically 6, now that 2 are preggo. I was anti-DW all along, because I felt like if I was doing this then I shoudl pay for all my friends to come- which obviously is impossible... they all had an invervention at one point saying that I should do this (it wasn't even my idea initially) and that it is absolutely not for me to pay for them.

I don't think it's selfish at all- My mom has tried to play that card a bit. I have explaiend to everyone- it was either do this, or Elope here in NH... We are overdue for a vaca, and we might as well get married somewhere beautiful. And at least this way, we can invite some people to join us. If they can make it they can, and if not, then they can see the pics when we get home. I'm sick of waiting to get married just because we dont have the $30K that other parents fork over to spend on a regular wedding. And no matter what you do, there is no way to do it at home without a. spending WAY too much, or b. not inviting some VIP's. This kills all those birds with one stone. Dont feel selfish! :)

And as far as the ties... he really doesn't want to wear one? Is it that important to you? What if he wears it during the vows and can ditch it afterwards? My FI wants to get a jacket just for some of our pictures but he doesn't actually want to wear the jacket lol

At first it hurt my feelings and then I realized that this is the only day I get to be selfish so whatever! Anyone else get this reaction?
59 days til we leave and 63 til the big day! We got my FI's attire and now my biggest hurdle will be getting him to wear a tie. He's killing me!

" then don't bother switching.  And, while the new dress is cheaper, the cost of the additions and alterations would have to drive that up a considerable amount.... making it negligible.

At first I was a little worried people would compare them, but I dont think anyone even noticed other than his cousin, who couldnt even attend the wedding. I felt so beautiful on our wedding day that I am glad I didnt sacrifice the dress of my dreams just because there might be some comparison. If you feel like the new dress will make you feel as fantastic as the adorae, then keep it, but dont sacrifice your vision and feeling just because of the similarity!

In my opinion, the dress that you ended up buying looks just as similar to your friend's dress as the adorae does... rolleyes.gif

If you are going to go with so similar a style with rouching, fabric, fit and flare... then you might as well go with your original choice... Just my opinion embarrest.gif

    • Hi Everyone, So, I was cleaning out my closet and realized that I never sold off my extra wedding OOT bag stuff from our wonderful DW.   46 Daily Spanish for Dummies 30 Pool colored OOT fabric bags - approximately 13in x 13in. They lay flat.  I used them for our wedding and they were perfect for everything we needed to fit in each bag. There’s a slight shade variation in the group; I’m guessing some were cut from a different bolt of fabric.  They are also a little wrinkled from storage and will probably be wrinkled from shipping. I have three additional ones, but they somehow got something on them (likely toddler related). If needed, I can try to wash it out and send those as well.
    • I’m getting married in six months to my foreign girlfriend. I was advised by a friend that one of the things I need to do before saying I do is to get a prenuptial agreement. Basically it’s supposed to protect my assets and properties in case my relationship with my future wife goes down the drain. I don’t know though if this is an acceptable practice when marrying Kiev ladies. I don’t want to do it if it would be insulting on her end. I need advice on this. Please help me.
    • So we are currently looking for an all inclusive resort for the wedding. We have 60 guests and found all the Dreams resorts as options and all of them gave us a quote and discounted price since it’s off season etc. Resorts in Punta Canta gave us a reasonable price, Dominicus gave us a really good deal then La Romana Resort and Spa gave us their regular price and so hard to negotiate. Will someone tell us how special is this resort that they won’t give us a good discount when all my guests are staying in their resort for 5-8 days. We are bringing $$$ in their resort and not give us a discount?  What is so special with this resort?  Can somebody recommend a beautiful resort?
