El Dorado Royale (EDR) Brides - POST HERE!

Recommended Posts

Hey Jn! Congrats on choosing edr and your date. I'm doing a traditional dress - no flowing chiffon for me. Not flattering on my body and just not my style. I've accepted the fact that I will be sweating in my dress. But will be beautiful so worth it. I think my fi is going to wear linen. Not sure if he's going to do a jacket ( in which case I'd encourage short sleeved shirt so he can ditch the jacket later) or long sleeves and a vest.

Hey Everybody!! I'm officially going to be an EDR bride!!! We just got back our confirmation for May 25th, 2013...  I know I'm way ahead of the game... we starting searching resorts 6 months ago.  I just finished reading all 176 pages of posts.  There is loads of really useful info in here.  I actually really love the idea of customized playing cards in the bags.  I'm also going to create a themed "activity" book for my guests.  With coloring pages based on pictures of my FI and me, crosswords, word searches, etc.  I'm an art teacher so it's kinda up my alley...  I'm really interested to hear from you May brides what the weather is like.  What is everyone going with for tuxs for your Grooms?  I have a FI who might turn into a Groomzilla if he is really uncomfortable the whole day.  Did anyone find any kind of suit that is wicking?  Also, what did you guys find about dress types and the heat... I want to be comfortable, but I don't want to look too casual or like I'm preggers... Either way... super excited!!!!

What what you put in the Hangover kit? So far all we have is Advil and Pepto, possibly Emergen-C.

Hangover kit/OOT bag stuff that we had: Advil, Immodium, Emergen-C, bandaids, alcohol wipes, hair elastics for the women, nail file, safety pins, chapstick. We also made custom pens with our wedding logo on them! People loved these and they were super simple and cheap! Here's the link: http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/t/64001/my-diy-personalized-pens

At first I didn't have conditioner in the room, just called the conceige and it was there shortly after.

I am getting married too Next February 15, 2013. I was wondering if there are any key questions we should be aware of to ask since we are hoping to go down for the Bride and Groom Rehearsal promo they have to check the resort out and meet with the coordinator.

Also, is anyone planning on doing a separate reception after the Mexico festivities for friends and family that couldn't make the trip down?

We plan on doing something in October. We pushed it off because my best friend is getting married a month after we come back. So the stress of helping her with her wedding I didn't want to add to it. Plus Texas has hot summers so I am all for waiting till it cools down!

We are getting married here before we go, and trying to keep that quiet (just us, paperwork, blah blah blah). Folks are already asking us if the Mexico wedding will be legal though - we've just said "yes" and left it at that lol

No AHR for us. We really don't have a lot of friends or family in this area since neither of us grew up here. The whole point of the destination wedding was a result of our friends & family living all over the country and they'd have to travel no matter where we chose to have our wedding.

We are planning the separate party back here for guests who were unable to make it to the wedding. We'll likely have it about a month after we get back. My fiance's parents are hosting it. It will be for mostly family and family friends, so they'll prob. just do a bbq at their house. :)

Also, we are debating just going to the courthouse here for the ceremony before we head down to Mexico. If that is what we decide to do, we def. won't share that info. with guests, because I wouldn't want them to feel like they are making the trip for nothing... The thing that is keeping me from doing it in Mexico is the idea that we have to have a blood test at the hotel. That just seems a little shady and weird to me... Obv. it's fine or else we'd be hearing about it from other brides, however I'm a weirdo with needles and blood and stuff, so it's freaking me out.

Congrats!! I can't think of anything super important to ask if you are planning on heading down ahead of time. You'll likely come up with a ton of questions while you are down there! I'd def. check out the resort though and restaurants, bars, pools, etc. so you can tell your guests where the best locations are for good service/food, fun, or whatever :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
