November 2011 Brides (or Grooms)

WOW!! What a stunning picture, I love it! Your dress is amazing and I love your hair and jewelry.

That is so cool you got to get all dressed up ahead of the wedding and take shots in an unusal setting. Can't wait to see more pics!

So how was the wedding yesterday??

On Thursday I took my bridal portraits with the photographer that is coming to Mexico with us... below is the teaser picture he sent me Thursday night:

Thanks ladies - I think it is a Southern thing to do bridal portraits ahead of the wedding day.  Traditionally you are supposed to go to a pretty park and get a full length shot of you standing with a bouquet.  You would then choose your favorite picture and have it blown up and framed.  The framed pic would be displayed at the reception and then hung on the wall at the bride/groom's house or the parents of the bride's house.  I wanted to have the photo session, and obviously not in a pretty park, but I don't know what I will do with the pictures yet.  Here are a couple more pics...(the first one was photoshopped for colors)

The wedding felt "weird" to me - not real.  Nothing leading up to that ceremony was traditional in any way so it didn't feel like a wedding.  I went to get my hair and makeup done in the morning then came home and went out to lunch with my fiance/husband (so weird to type that) and his whole family.  So he definitely saw me before the ceremony.  Then we all came back to our house and played cornhole.  I was playing cornhole up to an hour before my ceremony - how could it feel real when you do that?!  We then all drove to the park together and met up with my family, the officiant, and the photographer.  I will say that during the ceremony we read vows to each other and Paul got to the last sentence before he got choked up and had to stop.  It was very sweet.  I am hoping the photographer will post our pictures from the ceremony in the next day or so and I will share a few with all of you.

I know the day I wear the big white dress will be the day I feel married.  Until then, we each have a sterling silver band that we are wearing on the ring finger of our right hands.  The real wedding bands will go on the ring finger of the left hand.

LOL, in some odd way I do understand what you mean. Me and my husband have been married since January 2010 and although we have been legally husband and wife for close to two years, I still wanted the wedding.  I still wanted the big dress. I still wanted the pictures.  We didn't do our own vows at the ceremony or exchange rings, so this will be the 'real' thing to us.  Although, our wedding anniversary will always be 1/29/10.

When is your wedding date?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
