November 2011 Brides (or Grooms)

Recommended Posts

How much are you thinking of tipping each of those people?  In my resort thread brides have written that they have tipped the WC anywhere from $100-$200.  Some of the brides feel it got them a few "extras" free while others say it didn't help them out at all.

We will take extra cash in case we feel anyone warrants a tip or extra tip.

Are any of you November brides getting legally married before your DW?  My fiance are getting married this Sunday...kinda freaky to think that in 4 days I will be his "wife"!

We're getting legally married next Monday, and our DW is not for 5 more weeks. I'm excited though! pinkie.gif

I'd like to get legally married as close to when we leave as possible, so we're aiming for 11/12 BUT we are getting the certificate today just to get it out of the way.  You have to get married within 60 days.

Does anyone know if you can adjust what the judge says while he's marrying you?  We also want to keep it all "business" and save the emotion for the DW!!

Yea we are doing the same thing...no emotion, no rings, no kiss, no "I DO".  Probably just a "YES" will be a enough.  We are doing it that weekend because we do not live together yet, I move into our new apt 10/15 and his lease is up 11/1.  That way he can move in the last weekend of Oct without his parents having an issue with it.  That is also the weekend of my bridal shower so we scheduled it so his mom can attend since they do not live close.

I don't know if you can adjust what he says but the ceremony was totally all business and took about 5 min (we're in Chicago too).  We didn't even exchange rings - saving it for the 'real' wedding. :)

We are getting legally married less than 36 hours before we fly to Mexico! Wanted to wait til last minute. To us it's paper, and the real wedding is Mexico. We need to go get our license though, another thing on the To Do list!

Taryn we are the same as you, we don't live together yet so deciding whether he will move in the night of the legal wedding and spend 2 nites here before we leave for Mexico, or just wait until we get back.

We are not tipping until the end of the night so don't think it's going to earn us any "extras" at that point!

For our WC my fiance was thinking $200. Not trying to sound mean, but I was thinking $100. Plus we are giving her a thank you gift too. Going to get her something traditional from Ireland. We'll also have extra cash with us if we think we want to give anyone more.

For the waiters we are giving $50 each, same for bartender.

Good ideas on the tipping you guys!  I found out we need to pay our videographer cash (PromovisionPV) which makes me soooo nervous to travel with all that hard cash.  But, ah well.

Checked a few things off the list today on our lunch breaks - got our marriage license , ordered both of our wedding bands and FI got his suit altered!  Feels so nice!  And we ordered the cigar cases & engraved cutters from elighters.com last night.  Great website if your GMs like cigars!

Sarah don't you just love when you check another thing off the list?!?!?! My only problem is that sometimes when I tick one thing off, I end up adding another 2-3 things, LOL!

What's everyone doing for a Groom's gift? I did a BD shoot and am making a photobook, but wondering if I should get something else too that he can tell his family and friends about?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
