Hi Ladies-

I am getting married in Riviera Maya next August but I am between two resorts : Now Jade and Azul Sensatori.  The main thing detouring me from Now Jade is the menu. When we went for the site visit, we were told there isn't much room for customization, but our travel agent told us they are willing to work with us.  Are there any past brides on the forum who had a sit down dinner for their guests? If so, how did the menu selection go?

I don't know a whole lot about Azul Sensatori-but one of my bridesmaids was actually in a wedding there 3 weeks ago and she said she didn't care for the food at the resort-to the point that it would deter her from ever going back.  I don't know if that's the norm-or maybe she just had a bad experience...

The food at Jade was fantastic.  My guests raved about nearly every restaurant-even the buffet.

For the wedding-we had the mexican buffet-and they let me customize it-I swapped out about 5 different things-and the food at the wedding was awesome.

Are you trying to swap different things from different sit down menus?  As far as I know-I believe they will allow this-we were going to do this in the beginning-and I remember talking to Pilar about mixing and matching the different menus.  It's worth a try.

I am getting married at Now Jade in April 2011.  In the original planning, I was also deciding between Azul Sensatori and Now Jade.  I had some serious problems with Azul when it came to customer service, not getting back to me, and so far the contact with Pilar by email has been good, and I've heard from people here that she is great on site too.  I ended up calling the Azul to get in touch with someone, and it was some kind of call centre in Florida or something, and had a very bad experience with the person I spoke to and getting basic information out of them.  That deterred me from choosing that resort.  Also if you look at the wedding packages, and what they include, I think if you have more than, say, 20 people, the Azul seemed like it would be way more expensive when you add everything up, compared to the Now Jade packages include some items that make it more reasonable.  Also the Azul packages include a lot of items you don't necessarily need, I think it's more practival to include things like the food, flowers, etc. than a private dinner on the beach or "personal concierge" on the wedding day.

Concerning the food, we're doing sit-down meal but haven't started negotiating the details yet.  I have heard from others that you can choose 2 different entrees, the resort just needs to know ahead of time how many of each you want.

Good luck with the planning!

Caroline

I am still at a standstill with my planning huh.gif Tight budget right now and I can't really buy anything. I think I have found my dress though, and will go and try it on next week hopefully. I will probably order a "knock-off" with some customization if it turns out to be the one. What can I do in regards to planning that doesn't involve money? Any suggestions are welcome.

Primavera, I am kind of at a standstill too. With the holidays coming up (which means travelling for me bc my family is across the country) I dont want to spend any money right now.  One thing I work on a little bit is a welcome book for our guests.  You can just play around on the computer and not spend any money. You can also think about how you want to schedule out your ceremony and reception...or think about music.  There's definitely things you can plan without spending money!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
