Yeah, I think it would be a lot to pack, unpack, and pack, but now that so many people are staying, I don't think it is going to feel like a true honeymoon with just the two of us bc we will see everyone at the pool :*(  We are already booked in the nicest area of the resort, so there's no room to upgrade either for a change.....I'm truly torn.

Kitty I think it comes down to how much you love your resort but FI and I were thinking about switching for a few days because we went for 14 nights and in the end didn't because in the end the wedding part flew so fast and was so busy that we needed the extra time! The resort was a completely different vibe for us once our party animal friends left and it was just the two of us.

I agree with FI on the hassle thing... we were offered nicer rooms at the same resort for free but still didn't take it because it would be such a PITA to move all of that wedding stuff!!! I can't imagine having to haul all that stuff to another resort and settle back in. Just my two cents!

Alright, so now that I have read through all of the posts...  all of you, your pictures are amazing!!!  Lisa, your video is the greatest thing!!!  I absolutely love it!!!!  Teira, I really love your pictures!!!

We just got back last night and most everything is sorted!!  I've posted a lot of my own pictures on Facebook and the account we setup with snapfish, and I've only gotten one picture from the photographer so far.  I think it will still be a few more weeks before I get them all.  Since we brought our photographer down with us, I cannot wait to see them!  I know at the beginning of the reception Friday night, so had over 2,000 pictures already!  The greatest part, we paid for the CD of all of them!!!  She was in Mexico for 2 days, working the whole time!!!

Overall, things were good.  We had a few hiccups, but it's a wedding, how could we not?!  The best part of it all is that, I wouldn't change a thing!!  The day of the wedding, was the hottest day of our trip, but we were right on the ocean, so the breeze was really nice!!

I'll leave you all with the one picture I have so far...

Kitty, we changed resorts for our "honeymoon" due to some of DH's family staying longer than we would have liked and we regretted it terribly.  Part of the problem was that Excellence was soooo amazing to us (but of course you already know how awesome Excellence is) and the Majestic Elegance was absolutely terrible.  They never got the memo that is was our honeymoon and they made us feel like we were a burden to them from the moment we arrived until the moment we left.  They even tried to downgrade us since they had overbooked! I'm not sure whether we got such amazing service at Excellence because it's always that amazing or because we had our wedding there and had booked a bunch of rooms.  Either way, we shouldn't have left.  To be honest though, the packing and unpacking wasn't such a big deal (although we had an extra round of it because we switched rooms at the second resort after the first night--another whole story, you can read the review on the Majestic Elegance review here), the main issue was how much worse the resort was. It probably won't totally feel like a honeymoon if you have that many people staying with you because you'll still see them around and probably have meals with them, but if they're close friends and perhaps you don't get to see them that often, you may really cherish that time with them because up until the wedding there was so much to take care of (meeting people for arrivals almost every day), wedding planning meeting and rehearsal with the coordinator, TTD the day after, etc.)  Just weigh your options and make sure you stay at an as nice, if not nicer, resort if you change.  And enjoy every moment, it goes by WAY too fast!!

OK, I don't know why my text didn't show up!

Basically, I agree that you shouldn't change resorts. For the week of our wedding we were so busy with wedding stuff that we didn't have much time to visit with our guests, so we cherished all the time we could have with them afterwards. Plus, if you want alone-time, I'm sure your group will understand:)

Shelley!!! love the AHR pics!!!!

As for changing resorts.. i absolutely LOVED our resort and wished everyone else would change or just GO after the wedding!!! LOL ..... i loved the trip and it was awesome getting to share it with everyone, but hubby and i never even got ONE entire day on our own because people wouldn't leave us alone!!!!  before going on the trip we had asked for some alone time since it would be our honeymoon as well but aside from one dinner on our own at an a la carte rest. there always seemed to be someone in our group around us at all times..... i'm dying to go on another trip just the 2 of us now to make up for it!

Welcome Back Erin! Beautiful Kiss!

Shelley, I absolutely love how elegant your dress is. Your AHR looked fabulous. The cake is so simple and beautiful. Even the colors look great in that space.

As for switching resorts, we considered it and figured if we did switch we would probably lose a day moving. We actually ended up upgrading our room two nights before our wedding. We hadn't unpacked much because we knew we wanted to move, but it was still a bit of a pain. I had to argue a little with the front desk because we were leaving for a tour and they didn't want to pick up our bags without someone there. But they did move everything while we were away and we did like the room upgrade. So my suggestion would be to avoid moving. Like Meggers said, it is a completely different atmosphere after the majority of the party leaves.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
