Jellyfish Restaurant

Recommended Posts

Hi ladies!

Up until a few weeks ago, I wasn't aware that there were other options for weddings other than the resorts in DR!  Sooo glad that someone mentioned the Jellyfish restaurant in another thread somewhere.  It looks AMAZING.

I just spent the last few days scanning this whole thread (hello type A).  So far, it sounds like a lot of ladies have 2012 dates that are not Saturday...was that because they are already all booked?  I just got a response from Mayte and she said "we have some problems with the Saturdays".  Just wondering if we are SOL for a Saturday wedding and may have to settle for maybe a rehearsal dinner instead?

We are going down to the DR in 2 weeks for a scouting trip and are definitely going to try and make it over here.  She wouldn't confirm a set time for us to go visit but said "For me is perfect at time you need, just call me at 809 307 73 61 and if I´m not there, I´ll be there in secons."  Does it sound like we can just show up?

Thought I would pose these questions here since some of you have had a lot of communication with her already and might be able to decipher :)

I guess the main real question I have is, are most girls just relying on Mayte to provide the decor (both for ceremony and reception) based on photos you send her, or are you bringing your own things down too?

Thanks in advance and looking forward to being a part of this thread!

I am sure if you give Mayte a couple of hours notice before going, she will be there. She is a very busy woman, but does seem to be very accommodating. It seems like Mayte can do whatever you want for decorations, if she does not have it then she will find it for you. I am relying on this as I do not plan to bring down a lot of decorations. Place cards and everything are included in the set up costs. We do not want too much for decor, so I will probably just collect pictures from other Jellyfish weddings and say what we like and what we do not like. We were planning a resort wedding and came across the Jellyfish and SO happy we did!

Saturdays might be booked already OR might have a DJ party type thing (I saw this on their website and facebook, I would assume Saturday is a popular night for that) When do you want your wedding to be? We wanted a Friday so guests have a day to relax after the wedding as most people would leave on Sunday. We had to change our day so that we could book a Friday.

Hi Nana,

Yes, we sent out "save-the-date" magnets almost right after our engagement and after confirming our date with Mayte. This way we would notify our guests in advance of our wedding date so that they could start saving now! We sent them out in February, our deposits were due in April and now their final payments our due this month. So they've had tons of notice.

Sending out save-the-dates is the way to go for sure! There are tons of ideas on here to help you too! :)

Hey Sunny,

I'm planning on meeting Mayte the day we get into DR (Wednesday) so we can meet at the restaurant and go over details, I already gave her the date and she said she has a wedding that date so she will be there, but for us to call also.  I'm not bringing down any decorations really, just some things I have purchased along the way (cake topper, ceremony/reception sign, guestbook).  I've already started to make a document with pictures that I plan on sending Mayte, luckly I like how they have decorated some weddings in the past so it shouldn't be too hard.  Mayte takes care of everything.. and even if you're not sure if she does, I'm sure if you ask her it can be taken care of.  I'm getting married on a Saturday in November, not sure about 2012.. if you're not set on a specific date/month maybe you can ask her when a Saturday is available in a month.

SUNNY - Our wedding is planned for Saturday, January 7th 2012 and Mayte never mentioned any problems.

NANA - We book in Feb, a couple weeks after we were engaged and sent our save the dates right away. We are using destinationweddings.com for all the travel information and where our guests can book. They are not great by any means but I really just love the idea that I can give a website and our guests can book right there. I also get an updated roomlist anytime I ask my destinationweddings.com coordinator. We are lucky that we have not had any issues getting people to book, most are already booked that we think are going to make the trip...66 already!!

We are getting sooo excited, 4 months and counting! I can't wait for all of the November brides!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
