Wedding Planners Not Responding

I need help! This July (2010) I am getting married. We will be staying at HHV. I have contacted 3 wedding planners. Each time, I talked with the planner, I schedule a date, time and place and then send a deposit. Then, when I email or call them with a question, they do not return my emails or phone calls! What am I doing wrong? I don't have a lot of money to pay more than $1000 for my wedding. Does anyone have a planner they have used that returned emails and calls, will not steal my money and under $1000?

I first tried alohaforeverweddings.com. I talked with Diane to set up everything, but she never followed through with sending me my confirmation info. I then tried islandromancewedding.com (Mai Wilkes). I sent her a $100 deposit and now she will not return my calls or emails. I then tried hawaiiweddings.net, I would send question emails and they would respond the next day. I thought I finally found the right company. However, since I have sent them my $75 deposit, they will not return my emails or phone calls.

How many days has it been since they've contacted you? I know sometimes when I talk with some of the WCs it takes them up to a week to respond to me.

I do not have any experience with any of those companies, but if they have your money, they should be responding to you in some way. All I can say is keep trying and if no one responds, you can always let them know that you're filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau (and then do so.)

I, personally, have not used any of the Hawaii wedding websites or dealt with their WCs. I am currently using destinationweddings.com which serves as a travel agent. However, they do recommend wedding companies to clients if asked. The two that were recommended to me on Oahu are:

Oahu Weddings by A Fairy Tale Wedding Honolulu Hawaii

and

A Dream Wedding Hawaii provides Oahu, Hawaii destination wedding planning info. & coord. services

I ended up using a different venue entirely, so I never really went through these WCs. However, I assume that if another company is recommending them, then they should be pretty legit.

I really hope that helps out some, and I feel so bad that things aren't working out for you! Let me know how everything goes and I can try to help out if you need it.

We are using Best Bridal Hawaii. I have had no issues and they usually respond quickly. I know they do the weddings in the Chapel at HHV and the Gazebo, but I think they also do beachside weddings. You should check. I think they have some very inexpensive packages.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
