My DIY Flushmount Album...FINALLY! Review *With Pics!*

Recommended Posts

Thank you so much for this.  Ahh the extreme is $300.  Did you include the download in the price you paid for the album, or is it that plus the $300.  I may have to wait.  I was thinking of downloading it and making a small engagement photobook, and then using the software for our wedding album.  But $300 is a bit pricey as of right now.  Also, I am playing with foto right now, and I was wondering if you could help.  for 10x10 (or 12x12)  It looks like the pic extends beyond the zero point.  There are dotted lines that cut off the pic in many spots.  How do I know which will actually be my view?  Thank you again!   Fabulous awesome album!

There are a lot of options for making albums online.

Here is a pro site that is used by many photographers: http://albumexposure.com/

Nevertheless, I think that the use of graphic designers is the best resource. Some times getting albums from the photographer is a little bit pricey, but it worth it. I always use graphic designers and that give me the chance to create customs albums..

Good Idea! :)

Hey there!

Yeah, I know -- $300 OUCH.

BUT, depending on what size album you want, you can probably get away with the middle level one (Enhanced? can't remember off the top of my head what it's called...) That one's about $115 I think...

The main two reasons I sprang for the Extreme version was 1. you can do 12 x 12 panoramic spreads with it (the biggest the Enhanced version will do is 10x10) and 2. you can see all the pages you're working on... (in Enhanced and the basic version, you have to save each page separately...in Extreme you can do mulit-page albums...)

So, all that said, if you're doing an album that's, say 10x10, AND you don't mind working on each spread/page separately, then you can totally get away with the Enhanced version.

(I also rationlized the cost to myself that I would use it for other albms, like vacations etc :-))

Okay, now as to viewing your layout or pic...I'm not sure what you mean by "zero point"...?

First...are you working on a double-page spread/panoramic page?

Do you mean the line down the middle...?

Also, when you say there are dotted lines that cut off the picture, do you mean the dotted lines around the perimeter of the page...?

If that IS what you mean, those lines show you where the picture will be cut off when it's printed on the page...

I'm struggling to remember all the right terminology, but basically I think that's what's called a "bleed zone"...

Basically, when your page prints, pretty much every printer/album company will print it not EXACTLY the size it's supposed to be...so, for example, if you order 10x10 page spreads, they may be one or two millimetres short of 10x10. That dotted line just shows you where to keep your picture inside to be safe and not have anything cut-off.

HOWEVER, if you want the picture to go to the very ends of the page, almost looking like it's going off the page, then it doesn't really matter...just don't put anything "important" in the picture at the very edge... like a face etc.

Sorry, if this sounds confusing!

Let me know what you mean by "zero point" and where the dotted lines are (do you just mean the dotted lines that make up the picture "frame" ?)so I can be sure I know what you're referencing...

Then I'll try to post pics of different page spreads to show you what I mean:-)

I feel like I just made this sound difficult - but I promise it's not! I think pictrues will help:-)

Cheers!

  • 5 months later...

I am getting married on Nov 4th 2011.  I am a little nervous about the lack of communication and planning that has been going on between myself and the wedding coordinator...  Is this normal?

She seems to want to wait till much closer to the wedding.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
