Any 2011 Brides out there?

Recommended Posts

Hey we're getting married in Riviera Maya may 2011. We're stuck between Grand Riviera Princess(family) and Valentin Imperial Maya(adults). We have a few young nieces and nephews and cousins we would like to come (and their parents!) but we have been having trouble finding that family all inclusive that meets our needs, so far GRP is all we have come up with. We wanted to do a destination wedding to ease up on the stress and its still pretty stressful!

Hello, Ladies! I am new to BDW and just booked our wedding at Iberostar Paraiso Lindo in Riviera Maya this weeK!!

Linhy, we have the same wedding date!! Yay! Maybe we can "spot" each other, so to speak. As in, set ourselves monthly goals so we stay on track with planning. Goal for April = pick out BM dresses. May's goal = pick out floral arrangments. Haha.

Anyway, just wanted to say hi and introduce myself to everyone. Happy Planning! And stay sane! The good lord knows I'm having a hard time with that. wink.gif

Melissa,

I know! I went thru the same stage...pick the right resort, can take kids, and still very lux, nice and romantic. I picked the Royal Playa Del Carmen (adult only), with its sister hotel the Gran Porto Gran next door that can take kids and budget constrainted guests.

We are hoping to get a resort booked soon, but we are having a hard time since we cant really afford to take a trip down to see the different resorts, and finding pictures of wedding reception sites is near impossible. I cant believe these resorts dont have nice pictures of their wedding reception sites and set ups, would help sell it you would think!

Michelle.... Is so so exciting, its only a matter of time now before we can book.... ARGH!!!!!! :-) x

Linhy.... Have you heard back yet from the WC? I believe here when we book ours, we dont hear anything from the WC until about 2 months before the wedding... that will freak me out a bit but from reading other threads on here i know everything falls into place!!! but it wont stop me panicing!!! x

prettypigpig... Me, my dad, my sis and my bro are colourblind, thats why i have to e so careful picking stuff, i have to carry a piece of ribbon in the colour im using around as i have to then ask shop assistants things as i cant rely on myself... haha!!! I just hope the "aqua" colour im using is as nice to everyone else as it is to me!!! (as ive been told aqua has a few different shades) x

missyri.... Welocme, i know what you mean with a DW easing the stress!!! Phew, i dont think so.... :-) But i must say i am enjoying it and i think its the only stress that i dont stress more about... haha :-) Let us know how you get on with resort picking, i think that that is the hardest part, then everyting then falls into place, it took us around 8 months to 100% decide on a resort and finally found one we both fell in love with but also suited others :-) x

Hello Lindobride14, Congratulations on getting your wedding booked :-) Bet thats a massive weight of your shoulders!!! I love Iberostar resorts, we stayed in 2 in the Dom Rep and 1 in Cuba, we were looking at geting married at an Iberostar in Mexico but decided we wanted to try something we'd never tried before, otherwise it would defo be an Iberostar. Bet your looking so forward to planning now you've booked, and a date twin too :-) Weve not got an actual date yet so i dont know if i have a twin or not :-) What else have you got planned? colours, dress etc... let us know :-) x

Nicola-

Hi! So far, I've got the dress !! that's a huge one! I actually bought it a few months back when I was planning a 300 + person wedding in Chicago! It really wasn't what either of us wanting, so about a month ago, the FI and I said, screw it, we're going away! We wanted to do a catholic ceremony, so once we looked into resorts with onsite catholic chapels, the list was very short. Our family was very familiar with Iberostars having stayed a few times so the pick was easy!

Anyway, back to the dress. It's pretty formal, but since we're not doing a beach wedding, I think it's perfect! I will post it when I figure out how.

Anyone want to clue me in on how to attach a photo?

This forum is super helpful, you can check other threads for reviews, and sometimes, you can find photos of real actual wedding at the resort that you are looking/researching.
One of my friends went to the Princess resort, she said it is a nice one. I remember that it isn't too far from the airport, quite new and big.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
