This is both our second marriages, but my MOH wanted to throw a shower since I didn't have one with the first marriage. We decided to call it a Departure Party and get people hyped up for the upcoming trip and give out goody bags with specific info on the resort and wedding events. We are going to register, but we are going to do it somewhere fun like this massive wine/liquor store called Specs. It was actually suggested to us by a couple of people coming to the DW. Hopefully with the simple party theme people will not feel the need to bring a gift, but we are thankful for anything we receive! :)

I think most people don't mind buying gifts for second-time-around couples, as it's quite common these days (myself included). But, if you're approaching Elizabeth Taylor status, then may-be a shower would appear to be a little uncouth, lol! In my case, I asked for none, but my mother-in-law threw me a surprise "money tree shower" and after all the hard work she put into organizing it, I was grateful to her even though she specifically went against my wishes. I love her anyway!
