The chairs are steel with navy cushions.  I have a picture somewhere, I just can't find it at this moment.  I think they still will look better with the chair covers then without.

We leave in one month!  I am starting to get very excited.  Had a little snag yesterday.  Got a phone call from our travel agent who said our flights have changed slightly.  Our direct flights are no longer direct and we have to make a stop in Cuba on the way their and way home.  Not that thats the big deal, its that its adding almost 4 hours on to the travel time each way.

Also, I was thinking of bringing my own table covers (not a fan of the white ones the resort uses). Has anyone brought their own down? Sorry if sound a bit meticulous......I just want the deco to look tasteful lol.
Secondly, I've noticed that the Bahia Principe website does not charge for children 2-12, but Expedia does. Does anyone have any info on rates for children under 12?

Hi jayKay!

Thanks so much, I will keep that in mind. Only one month to go? Wow! I can understand you excitement.

Sorry about your little snag. It's better that they gave you a heads up now. I say go prepared for the stop and extra hours, but more importantly focus on your big day; that will surely keep your spirits up. : )

Tanandrob: I'm pretty much ready to go!  Minus the chaos with the gazebo dance and not having the numbers, things have been pretty smooth sailing!  I've decided that there's nothing more that I can do from here, and am just waiting until my meeting with the wedding planners to go over the rest of the details!

All of our OOT stuff is already packed and took up and entire giant suitcase weighing 49lbs!  Thank goodness I resisted the urge and didn't buy anymore!  Have all of our a la carte dinners booked for our week, including our Welcome Dinner and Wedding Rehearsal Dinner and have confirmed with the florist.  The photogs are all ready to go and just sent us our engagement pics that we absolutely love!  My final dress fitting has been done and just need to pick it up a few days before we fly out.  So I think that's the big stuff! Phew!

JayKay: Boo...its so frustrating when there are last minute hang ups!  At least you will still make it to Jamaica and your flights haven't been cancelled or changed to different days!  All in all, it will be a pain in the butt, but should otherwise work out ok.

My parents are flying American Airlines as they're coming from the US and we've been a little stressed since they went bankrupt!  As of now their flight is still on schedule, but here's hoping that lasts!  I'm not sure what I would do if my parents couldn't attend!

Hi ladies, we're back from an amazing time at Gran Bahia. We got married November 29th and everything was abosolutely amazing. We had a group of 56 people from Canada, and every single person loved the time there and the resort.

The resort is really big. Which was good for our amount of people. Everyone always had something to do and there was always someone at every part of the resort. Food was amazing, no complaints at all. We all booked the Royal Golden package, which came with all of our dinner reservations premade for us. Our whole group had reservations at each restaurant every single night together, but just shortly after one another. Even though our reservations were all slightly different, we always showed up in groups and they always seated us together. We had access to free internet at the golden club lounge. Every restaurant had really good food- our favs were the Grille and Pablo (the fancy one - although it took really long to get our food and dessert). We all had really nice views from our room.  The weather was perfect. It would rain here and there, mostly at night but it would go away so fast that no one really cared. Every day at the PIscis they had jerk chicken which was amazing. We never got sick of eating it. The buffets had good food too, so for the stragglers that missed their reservations they had no complaints eating there. The rooms are really nice, big and clean. I didnt find any bugs or had any complaints.  All the cleaning ladies were extremely nice, and they treated us so nice and did everything we asked them, especially for the wedding party.

For the wedding, I ordered chivari chairs, bouquets, aisle runnner, lanterns, tablecloths, centerpieces, mostly all my decor from Tai Flora. My ceremony was for 11am, and Tai Flora did'nt get there till almost 11 to setup. Apparently they got pulled over by the police, but it wasn't a big deal. I had all my ceremony music burned on a cd. I was really worried that it wasn't loud enough but Chandlyn helped me test everything the day before and it was awesome. We just waited for them to get there and started about 20 mins late. Chandlyn and Donnalee had everything decorated perfectly and it was beautfiul.  I made the ribbon wands and the flowers that were hung on the chairs (they were hung wrong, they were suppose to be tied to the corner of the chair, but the wedding decorators tied it differently, but i didnt really care at that time).

Our ceremony was about 20 mins, then we took another 40 mins or so to take photos. We were then able to go back into the pool for a few hours before the reception started. We had our reception at the Piscis which was outdoor. Chandlyn and Donnalee set everything up the way I wanted to, they moved all the decor from the ceremony over. We rented a projector to play a video, and the DJ came with our restaurant because we closed it out to have a private dinner. I had flip flop luggage tags as the table seaters, adn then beach theme wine stoppers for everyone at the table. THe reception ended at 11am, which then they drove us over to the disco with the golf cart. We all stayed there until about 230 (even though they tell you the disco closes at 1, it never closes till about 230). The sports bar/entertainment area was awesome, it was a good place for a large group to hang out every night and make a lot of noise =).

As a thank you for our guests, we took everyone out for lunch at the Ruins Restaurant in Ochio Rios, then went to  Dunns Falls, then to this plaza for some shopping,  organized by Lee Tours. Norma from Lee Tours is amazing, The Dunns Falls seemed a bit dangerous at first, but after the first section which was the hardest, it was beautfiul.

We stayed for a week, but nobody wanted to leave at the end of the 7th day. I would recommend this resort to any bride and for the brides that are coming up to get married, good luck with everything and dont worry about a thing - it will all be great in the end. I've attached some of our pics for you to see the setup.

If you have any questions at all, feel free to send them. Enjoy !

just wondering what everyone is doing for the a la cartes? are you just letting everyone know where you are eating each night so people can book with you or eat alone? I want to book all of our a la cartes but its hard to know what we will be doing each day. We leave in 3 weeks and im freaking out!!! very excited but still so much to do

We booked a Welcome Dinner and a Rehearsal Dinner for our group, and then of course we'll all be together for the Wedding Dinner.  That only leaves 4 dinners that aren't scheduled.  We're letting our guests book those nights as they wish, because we really want them to enjoy their vacation and relax, rather than worrying about dinners every day.  We provided the contact info if they want to go ahead and book some a la cartes for themselves, as many of them are newlyweds/newly engaged and will likely want a romantic night or two alone!  Otherwise I figure we'll likely meet up at the buffet one night after our excursion!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
