Any Gran Bahia Principe Runaway Bay Brides out there?

Recommended Posts

This makes me so sad!  I know you wont be able to have your dream jamaican wedding on the beach with beautiful pictures, but you still will be marrying the man of your dreams and becoming husband and wife, no matter where you get married!  Also, your pictures will be just as beautiful because its the bride and groom that make the pictures beautiful, not the setting. I'm glad to hear you still will be going to jamaica for your honeymoon!  Maybe you could convince your FI to do a TTD session, or a mini honeymoon session, then you will still get your pictures from the beach!  And please, stay on here, we want to hear all about your planning too, even though its not a dw anymore!!

I've tried to persuade him that we could go with just us and our wedding party, which is 2 and he won't do it. he says we'd look stupid being in wedding clothes just 4 of us having a "reception' and I can't change his mind. no final alternate plans yet... still looking and it looks like it means we get married a month earlier because the weather here in November is definitely NOT wedding weather. to salvage anything we have to do a Friday wedding because we can't afford a Saturday wedding but to be save weather wise it means either Sep 30th or Oct 14th.  we're still going to Jamaica for a honeymoon and the same date that we planned to leave, just not a wedding... no beautiful pictures on the beach like I wanted.. no gazebo. life really just isn't fair sometimes...

I am so sorry to hear that, but I don't think just you and your wedding party would be stupid, it's intimate but I definitely understand you have to respect your FI's feelings and wishes. I am very sorry to hear it didn't work but no matter WHAT you are going to have a wonderful, perfect wedding day that is going to be exactly what you want. Good luck with everything and stay on the message boards and keep us updated with everything.

Ugh and of course, I have to switch the date. I really want the ceremony later in the day, preferably the 4 PM slot and we are having issues securing that. They told my TA that they had it available and I e-mailed them in hopes of securing it and then after a week and a half of finally getting a response...the time was taken. Argh! If I have to have it at 1 PM or something, I will but I know in June at 1 PM it will be pretty hot and I wanted it later so then it would be a more seamless transition to the reception dinner. If I have to take an earlier time, any suggestions for what to do after the ceremony and between the reception dinner?

I'm definitely sending out my save the dates as soon as possible (or rather as soon as I can actually nail down the exact date??) It's so much more helpful to give everyone a longer time with a destination wedding so they can begin to plan/save if necessary!

We had to switch dates too because of our plane schedule and it really does suck.  Thank god they had the 4pm time available on the only other day we could get married the week we are going.

As to save the dates we sent ours out before we had the date secured but we knew we wanted to get married in the month of January, so for our save the dates we only put the month, rather then specific dates.  That way we were able to send them out earlier to give our guests enough time to save.

Thank you so much ! We weren't able to do a first dance at the restaurant because it's still open to the hotel guests you are not allowed to play music only speeches are possible, We knew we weren't getting the restaurant we wanted like 3-4 days before the wedding and thats because I emailed her about it. The week before call her for an final questions ! We used micheal Saab as our photographer he works alongside his wife, great people to collaborate with :)

Ugh! Hopefully it was just a typo mistake and they still have you booked for the 22nd and just put the 25th! So frustrating, especially when it takes so long in between to communicate!

We sent our save the dates out before we actually had a date secured as well.  We did the same thing as you and just put the month and year so that people could start saving while we waited for all the other details to be confirmed.  Once our date and prices were confirmed we sent out formal invitations with all the trip details.  It seemed to work pretty good that way.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
