I think she was just trying to do something nice. Usually whoever is hosting may solicit the help of close family and friends to pull it off. I would give her the benefit of the doubt. Your mom offered what she felt she comfortable with and I think that is fine.

Wow... I would be really upset if someone was doing that to my mom!! Good for your mom for sticking up for herself!! All the best with the E.party!!

I have a sister in law very similar so I feel your pain. I really don't know how to help other than tell her thanks but no thanks. I am having a hard time with mine so being nice is wearing thin with me and actually making me sick inside, hope you find a middle ground with her.

My sister gave us our engagement party with my bridesmaids help. Unfort. my SIL is one of my bridesmaids. My sis sent out group emails and even included my MIL. My SIL only awns. one email saying that she lived far otherwise would love to help. My sis replied and said. how about you bring the cake? She said yes and my sis never heared back from her again.

MIL said the SIL didnt know if she could get time off from work to come so she would take care of the cake. My sis said that was fine.

The day of the party there was a problem with the cake that it needed to be picked up earlier. My sis called my MIL to ask if she could pick it up earlier. My MIL said she couldnt because they were going out on the boat. I dont know if you know..but going out on the boat in the ocean is an all day thing and draining.

Needles to say my sister had to have the cake delivered and paid for it. Oh surprise!! my SIL made it and thats why they were going out on the boat. They got to our house (where the party was) 2 hours late.

My SIL had a bad face the whole party. Never said hello or goodbye to my sis.Later I found out she was telling my FI friend crap about us...like why are they getting married so soon, how come my bother never told me he was gonna get engaged.

My FI ended up paying my sis for the cake because i felt it wasnt fair for her to get stuck with the majority of the costs. My SIL didnt even give us a card...she left early 2!

I figured it out...no one gave her an engagement party so therefore why should she help with ours :) The thing is you know ur SIL better then us and I'm sure you know how she is with other things. Just try and ignore her..I know its hard to do trust me!
Not even rain could ruin my wedding day!
