Oh man, do I feel for you girls with your booking frustrations. Fortunately for us, we went into this DW planning with the thought of...."If they come, they come. If they don't, the don't. Either way...WE will be there." I know this philosophy is not helpful or supportive to most of you....especially when this is your first wedding, your dream wedding.

This is MY first actual wedding (but third marriage) and it is my dream wedding...but I just got tired of stressing myself out over it...and pestering everyone about their travel. I felt like a broken record whenever I would get around people...."So...are you coming?" "So...did you send off for your passport yet?" "So....any words I could twist into a backwards way of asking if they had book." LOL My 9 year old daughter is coming with us and we waited, and waited, and waited for others to book who were planning flying down with her instead of us. We waited SO long that we finally gave up and booked her ticket to fly with us. This waiting cost us an additional $500+ dollars for her airfare than if we would have just booked her when we booked ourselves. AND the folks we were waiting on.....they STILL haven't booked.

So, we never did a group contract....and just planned a great, fun, stress free vacation! I just couldn't do it....I don't have the mindset, time or stress availability to worry about holding everyone else's hand. That sounds so crass....but what I really want is to go to Mexico, have our 2 hour event on ONE day of our entire vacation, sit down to a wonderful meal with all our friends and family who do show up....and enjoy the rest of the time with whomever wants to join!

Boy do I feel like a stick in the mud after reading what I just wrote...but I can't say I would change any of it. I suppose my words to you all would be, TRY not to stress too much. You all are so very creative with so many awesome ideas. I wish I could be a fly on the cabana to watch your events....I'm sure they are going to be magnificent!!!

20-24 rooms or 60 room nights = 4 comp nights + 1 private function

To request a wedding group proposal for 10 rooms or more, click here

* Function area will be assigned upon availability and confirmed upon arrival
** Complimentary nights will be credited through group contract post travel. Applies to all wedding collections & complimentary package for groups booked with a signed group contract & specific # of rooms.

On line bookings do not qualify.

If someone in your group booked online and not through the resort if possible the resort is not counting them toward your group booking. You may want to check with your wedding coordinator or TA to see if they can move it to your group.

Also rooms book is different from how many nights are booked as well.

There are now 4 other weddings on my date (08-09-2010)! I just went to the website and checked the availability... There are weddings at 2, 3, 4, 5(me), and 6 now. Who are these other 4 people? LOL! I hope they join the forum!

They have some new pictures of the collections up (well since the last time I have been to the site). I am getting nervous b/c the deadline to book with my contract is May 1st, and we still only have 7 rooms booked with the travel agent. :-( a lot of people booked elsewhere because she was offering them rooms with a view and they saw the prices for the garden/parking lot rooms on orbitz/expedia and booked there. I wish she had emphasized the cheaper rooms... make sure your TA's emphasize that!

I need 3 more people to book so our contract is not void. FI claims that it is not a problem but I hate how people keep saying they are coming but then don't book!!! If you are coming just book what is the problem!!!!! One of my BM just called and said she isn't coming now b/c of money so now I do not believe anyone because she swore up and down she was coming. I know I am being rude but either book or don't book don't sell me these promises and get my hopes up! I hope we can get the deadline extended. Does anyone else have this probleM? I will be so mad if people book after because then we do not get the free reception, upgrade, and room nights!

I checked and there is no way to combine the Catholic ceremony and civil. We are going to do Catholic there so we will actually be married before we leave. They will not even allow the Catholic ceremony without being legally married before. The up side is that it is easier to take care of the paper work at home for the legal ceremony.

It is annoying when they wait until the last minute to let you know they cannot attend. When I asked my BM's I told them I completely understood if they could not attend due to cost or time commitment. Our wedding is six months away and we just had one GM back out. I also have one BM who seems to be avoid calls and not returning emails so I am counting on her backing out as well. I know it would be hard to tell a bride that they cannot afford it but it is much better than backing out at the last minute.

I would check to see if you can get your booking to last longer. My TA is my future mother-in-law, she did a wedding at Aventura Spa Palace in Nov and was able to get some people booked at the TA rate into the group booking past the deadline. However she did recommend to us to put the deadline to book 1 month early for the people who drag their feet on booking.

WTF!! what is the point of that? and if the ceremony isnt legally binding what is the purpose of the wedding certificate they will be giving us in mexico. I get married in just over 6 weeks. i'm so stressed now i just dont need this. has anyone else had this problem?
I can't believe this wasn't brought up when booking. I know when I signed the contract it was right in there.

From my understanding you should be able to choose, you may have to pay extra for it but you can decide at that time, you aren't locked into a specific color. It may also be possible to bring your own material and have your WC add it.

I am doing a complimentary package. I am doing silver and white with crystals. I think it is 350 with everything. I am pretty sure they will add whatever it is you want as long as you are willing to pay.

BOOKINGSSSSSS... I cannot tell you how annoying our guests are.. am I being rude, prob. but are they being annoying DEF. We have been stressing airfare since day 1, Month 1, Month 2, Month 3, Month 4...etc etc.. Now prices are soo friggin high and some have yet to book. They keep asking ME will it drop?? Then we have people that say they are coming, then say no, then say yes.... and it is totally frustrating.

I am trying to be open about it, but seriously if I was invited to a DW I would figure out the price, budget.. save..and either book or not.

I have so much going on right now, and dealing with our guests is driving me insane. We are busy with our Design Company, which is great but has delayed OUR invites and are now going out tom. They should have been out the end of March, which is only a few weeks behind, but still!!

Anyway, sorry I vented, but I read all your posts and needed to spill my thoughts as well.

I am just thankful I have this forum! Without you girls, and the previous brides I don't think I would have gotten this far in planning!!

Thanks

Luchdiamond: you can go with the complimentary package and then add things that you want a la carte. Read the review by CutieRosie. It's very detailed. She did the complimentary package and had a huppa on the beach in addition to lots of other things. She also posted some great pics.

Jodimichelle: my FI works for Continental. The summer airfare price wars usually start in May. Also try www.airfarewatchdog.com; this is a cool site that will send you email alerts with airfares. You can chose how often you want to receive them and you specify if you'd like alerts from a certain city, to a certain city, or city-to-city. Additionally, let your guest who don't use this site know that the best time to shop plane tickets is Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
