Dreams Riviera Cancun - Brides post here (new thread)

What are everyone's thoughts for ceremony programs? My fiance thinks we don't need them and feels it would be an extra expense that really isn't necessary since the duration of the ceremony isn't that long. I always had in my mind that I would be including this for my guest.  Do you think it's necessary?

Has anyone had a private reception in one of the restaurants? our numbers are getting closer to 40 and it looks like it might be an option! Does anyone know the differences in menus? It seems like it's 35per head for the restaurant and 48 per head for an outside reception , but I'm guessing that's because that requires more of a setup? are there any cons to a restaurant reception? My mom is worried about guests being too cold by the beach and thought it might be a little more sheltered from the wind.

My mother said something simular, recommended that I grab pashmina's for the ladies but in speaking to the resort, after folks get that alcohol in their systems and start partying, normally folks aren't concerned with cold.  My wedding is in early May so I'm hoping its nice out by then.

Ya we'll probably bump into each other! Are you having a large wedding party? Are you bringing down a lot of extras for the ceremony and the reception? I have lots of questions, and its just nice to ask someone who will be experiencing the same thing at around the same time.

For programs, I was basically going to go about doing a set up that would be the plan of events for the entire evening. Hopefully I'll know the order of my wedding and how it will be planned...NO ONE WILL EMAIL ME BACK FROM THE RESORT!  Its been since Christmas since I've heard from Evangelina and I'm starting to become worried. I've email and emailed...but anyway, I was going to list all of the events in a menu set up and then go from there. I don't really know anything. I don't have menu, NOTHING!  Does anyone have the measurements of the beach setting canopy? I wanted to order my material and chair sashes but I don't know what....4 months to go and I'm feeling so stressed!

I am having my reception at El Pateo. The cost is $2000 to closed it down for 3 hours as a private event (with the permission of their food and bev mng). Depending on what package you choose, we chose the Ultimate package, Its still $48 pp for every extra after 20 people + tax + Gratuaty.  If you want to stay longer then 3 hours, its $15 pp per hour (open bar and waiter service).  Hope this helps. Happy Planning!

Here are the dimensions of the hoopa, what I received from Evangelina:  2.50 x 2.50 mts… (meters)  She stated (front face) so I am guessing that each this is the size of the posts, how tall it stands.  But than back in another post I found the below review of a previous bride:

( the chuppah is 8' on all sides, so I figured I'd need about 10 yards each for both colors I wanted to use). When I didn't find anything I liked, I looked for similar fabrics and found a very inexpensive organza, which isn't as flowy but did the job, since they had to tie it down around the poles anyway. It was pretty windy while we were there. Anyhow, I purchased 10 yards of each color for about $20 from http://www.giftsintl-us.com/products.php?cat=59  And that's with shipping! $20 for 20 yards def beats paying $300.   Hope that helps.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
