Is anyone getting married/got married at Our Lady Guadalupe Church

Recommended Posts

Hey ladies!

I am soo sorry I did not reply earilier to you! And congratulations to those who have got married, soon to be, and Miss. Gleason and Jess who is getting married so soon!!!!!

This wedding site has been wonderful, but I posted a couple threads, and I did not get any replys, so I just haven't checked in for awhile! But that is excellent advice, thank you for sharing!

I am a little nervous.....Padre Esteban said there was no rehersal. He hasn't told me a lot actually. I am not Catholic, but my fiance is, so I did not know all those materials needed to be supplied too! Yikes! I am definitely going to have to check in about that! I have tried numerous times to call, but it is always Spanish speaking people answering. So I have only contacted him through email. I am the same way, I need things in writing! He really just said "we can offer you this date.." So I am nervous! I don't want all my guests down there, and then some random local marrying us, haha.

It is just coming up so soon! I would love to hear your experiences when you get home! It is just such a beautiful church! I fell in love with it when I was down there as a little girl! I would love to be married there, it just seems like it could be a little disasterous though!

Thanks girls!

I'm back!!!! And we totally lucked out....we went for our rehearsal with Padre Esteban and the Church ladies called this American Priest named Father Peterson. My wedding coordinators thought it was because they liked the look of us? haha who knows. Anyway, this man is amazing and you all should request him if you can!! He is an American Priest from Seattle area and he lives in Puerto Vallarta for 9 months, and goes back to Seattle in the summer time. He seriously is the nicest man ever and made our wedding incredible. He got to know us and our families in the 1 day he had to plan....he even came and hung out with us at our reception at Dreams. He truly cared about us - it was amazing.

So ladies, if you want any advice, request him - he is awesome and he lives down there and loves to do wedding at Guadalupe.

That is so exciting! Congratulations!!!! Father Peterson sounds fabulous! did you always plan on having him? I was confirmed at Our Lady of Guadalupe church for Dec 30, but now I can't get ahold of Padre Esteban! He usually takes a little while to respond, but this has been 2 weeks. I know it is really busy down there this time of year, but I am just a little concerned. We also have the hotel on back up, but would love to get married at the church. I can't wait to see pictures!

haha no! we were supposed to have Padre Esteban also (I think they tell everyone that) - but then we went for our rehearsal two days before and they just hand me the phone..I was like "hi who is this" - and he said it was Father Peterson and they asked him if he wanted to officiate our ceremony and he said sure. So then we talked about logistics for about 20 minutes. He is seriously awesome, love that man

**BUMP**

Thanks for the great information ladies. To all of you who have already been married in the churches in PV - I am about 30 days away and have some questions for you!

We are getting married at Our Lady of Refuge and Padre Esteban is saying the mass.

1. Did you pick your readings beforehand and just tell Padre Esteban what you wanted when you met with him?

2. What songs did you pick for the processional, prelude, etc? I sent a pretty basic list (or thought it was) and the organist didnt think that he could play 4 out of 5 of them. I'd like to get this figured out!

3. Is Father Peterson still there!? Anyone know? He sounds fabulous but I would never want to ask Padre Esteban if its going to make him mad sad.gif

4. Did you ever get Padre Esteban to correspond with you by email? He wont write me back.

Sorry to bombarde you with questions - and thanks!!

We didn't pick the readings until the day before our wedding. I think Father Peterson leaves for the summer, but I'm not sure exactly when that is.

Songs, we did Ave Maria, Canon in D, Bridal March....hmm I can't remember the rest!

Good luck! I never met Father Esteban so I can't help you with that one.

I got married at Maria Reina de la Paz church in the Marina. The church is gorgeous and Father Gonzalo is very wonderful. He gaves us a booklet for us to pick our readings and we had a mariachi for the mass and they new all the songs to play at the church.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
