    Hello Brides!
After searching hi and low for the perfect place at home, we decided to follow our dream of a destination wedding on the beach!

We are thinking of a wedding on the Mayan Riviera or right in Playa del Carmen. Any ideas?

There will be about 40 of us, including children. Some people are price sensitive.

Congrats and to the forum! I found that chosing a place was the hardest part, but luckily you've found BDW to make your decision making process a whole lot easier! Good luck and happy planning!

Congratulations! I say go for a hotel in the Playa Car area. It's pretty much only hotels and time shares and still walking distance to downtown Playa del Carmen.

Some of our guests were budget concious too so we chose a resort that has everything that anyone would need, but the draw back is it's about a 15 min drive to downtown Playa del Carmen.

Good luck on your search and let me know if you have any questions. I'll see what I can do to help out!

Hi there! I'm looking around the same area for Feb 2011 :) I have found that making a spreadsheet of the resorts is helpful.

Were you looking at having it at an AI resort, non AI, or off site?

I was just in Cozumel in May and it was great there, we went to Playa de Carmen for a day and visited the Sandos Playcar Resort... it was very pretty, kid friendly and priced well but I can't say I know much about their wedding packages!

Congrats and welcome. This is such a helpful site. we are looking into the same area. The resorts were are loooking at ate Sandos, Grand Porto Real/The Plaza (You can stay at the Grand Porto yet get married at The sister Resort: The Plaza which has a beautiful location yet very expensive rooms, and the trird one we are looking at is the Grand Occidental Xcaret.

Here are the forum link for the thread of information:

                    Sandos - http://bestdestinati...om/forum/t31793

                    Grand Occidental Xcaret - http://bestdestinati...om/forum/t28154

                    Grand Porto Real - http://bestdestinati...om/forum/t43618

All these hotels are all-inclusive so if your looking for room only there are lots of great economical options. Shangri La Criribe ( Shangri-La Caribe Hotel Playa del Carmen Mexico, Beachfront Resort, welcome ) is also beautiful and I believe they do meals only.
Hope to see you around the forum.
