Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya Brides??

Girls with the tipping questions:  I haven't been to Mexico for two years, but I did get the feeling last time that they now prefer to have Pesos (four years ago when I was there it was all US!).  Since the US economy flopped it's not as easy for things to be "just drop two zeros for the US price".  From what I understand it's somewhat of a pain for them to exchange the currency anyway.

What we found was good (and got us excellent service) was to give our bartender $50 pesos ($5) every few trips to the bar (when you're in a big group it's really not that big a thing everyone just take their turn tipping), just make sure they see you give it to them!  And at dinner we always tip about $50 pesos per person (Like $20 pesos at the lunch buffet as really they're just getting waters), they really appreciate it, and you'll notice the next time if you get the same server they'll go way above and beyond because most don't tip that well, if at all.  The way I figure it, coming from Canada, our economy is not in the poops and we can definetely throw a little extra their way for enjoying their lovely country!!

Does anyone have the contact info so I can make sure i've got the right email?

Thanks a bunch:)

Hello Grand Sirenis Brides!! I am getting married in early August 2013. Yeniza has been mostly great with answering a lot of my questions. But I just want to be able to check my info against other brides who are getting married there or have already been married there. We decided on this resort because it's a beautiful resort, and because my fiance proposed to me on the beach there. I would love to get married by the patch of beach that's by the spa and is a bit more remote from the resort, but Yeniza has told me that this costs $5000 more for location change. Did anybody also experience this super high cost to choose the beach that's by the spa??

For you ladies that have already gone through the process, what sort of things did they want you to start planning at the two month stage?  I'm 6 weeks out and Yenizia has been very good at answering my q's so far with pricing and such. She told me last week to contact the wedding coordinator (at at different email address) to start making final choices, so I did, and now have not heard back.  While I am trying my best to be patient since they're busy, part of me is also a bit nervous because it's officially "crunch" time.  Do I need to stress or it is fine that they aren't getting back to me in a reasonable time frame?

Hi sgreen99,

Wow looks like you and I are going to just miss each other!

I have a travel agent/wedding coordinator, and she finds that it usually takes at least a week to get an answer back. We're at 39 days and counting, so this seems to be fairly par for the course right now. It is my understanding that the resort wedding coordinator will schedule a meeting with you once you're down there to finalize all the decisions. Unless you're waiting on information to make decisions that can't wait til you get there, I would say don't stress about it :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
