Amy-  I think the linens were just standard white and looked nice.  The dance floor is in the center of the room, it's the first thing you see as you enter the room.   The tables are all around the perimeter.   I wish they were round as well.  I am looking at doing some colored lighting in the room to dress it up a bit.  Found the vendor on this forum.  They also rent silver chargers.

The room is on the smaller side.  It has a good size bar and an open kitchen so you can see them cooking your food which is nice.  The area outside the room is very nice.  There's like a little walkway with fountains on both sides of it and some seating.  I think a lot of people with hang our there to step out and smoke, socialize.

They have just agreed to let me have my private reception at the Mexican since I have over 60 guests!

Was the Mexican bigger than the Cajun?

She said they can do round tables of 8 which i am happy about because I did not want long tables.

I am just hoping that with proof of emails that they do not change

I spoke to Mayra and they do have round tables that can be used in the cajun and mexican restaurants for the private reception, however you will need to use a separate vendor for the according chairs. The vendor offers two types of chairs, the Tiffany Chair, which rents for $6 dollars a piece and the acrylic chairs, which rents for $8 bucks a piece plus shipping/freight charges. The Maya can coordinate the rental for you. It does not cost extra to use the round tables. I think we are going with the acrylic chairs and white linens. The same company that offers the chairs offers different colored bows and table cloths, napkins etc. Do you mind sharing information on the lighting vendor? Do you know what type of options they offer?

Hi ladies...just popping in to hopefully answer some questions:

1) if you are both single there is NO TRANSLATION needed on the birth certifactes for US citizens (don't know about CA or other countires)

2) only if there is a windower/divorcee, then a translation IS NEEDED for again US citizens

3) you will get charged $300 pentalty fee for NOT using the hotel's photographer

  • if you use them as a videographer and NOT photographer, you still will pay the $300 ( i tired that) but it didn't work

4) I agree to pay the extra $120 for those extra 'fake' guests that aren't there, a private reception is the way to go, if you have that many people.  You don't want random people at the restaraunt while speeches and stuff are going on...Just my opinion.

Anything else I can help with...just let me know !!!

Oh good!  Yes, the Mexican is bigger for sure.  When you first walk in, there is like a buffet area directly in front of you where they'll serve the salads and appetizers, and then to each side of that buffet room, there are identical rooms that are both pretty large.

Glad to hear about the rounds -- I much prefer this as well :-)

I'd recommend you print out your email correspondence and bring it with you to Mexico just in case there's any last minute deviations when you're there.  I thought I'd just access my email on my iphone while we were there, and didn't realize that AT&T charges crazy roaming charges for data usage, $20 per MB!

Thanks for posting the chair info, Amy.  I did not know that there was an additional charge for chairs if you opt to use the round tables.  I thought white chair covers were included in the Dream package, but I'll have to pull it out and look at it again.

I agree, I'd do the Tiffany chairs!

The lighting vendor said that they can do a "color wash" in your wedding colors which will illuminate the room in a colored glow.  This works best indoors because the walls give the lighting something to bounce off of.

I havent been able to obtain too much info on the lighting pricing and options yet because the first question they asked was how big is the room and I don't have the dimensions of the cajun or mexican.  Anyone have this info?

So helpful! Thank you very much. I am going to double check with Mayra as well re: the chair rental. I think the white chairs included in the wedding package are the chairs used for the ceremony. When I asked about the room set-up for the cajun restaurant she told me that they have the square tables with the captains chairs - basically the chairs that are in the restaurant permanently - but have the ability to substitute the square for round, but don't have the according chairs. I think it would be too much work/not enough time for the staff to move the chairs from the ceremony site to the restaurant in time for the reception. This might work if you're planning to have a cocktail hour in between. Actually, I am going to pose that question.  I'll keep you posted.

I am reconsidering renting round tables and matching chairs. I still have not received an exact price except estimates (not including transport). All I know is it will be about 500 for chairs alone with bows or covers.   I may just go with the square tables to cut costs. Does anyone know how much they charge for bows or covers for their chairs?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
