Just my 2 cents to clear up any confusion. If you opted to have a LEGAL ceremony at your resort, then NO you do no need to "legalize" it in the U.S. It will be a legal marriage already. In some countries (like D.R. for example), it is a lot of paperwork and $$ to have a LEGAL ceremony. So in our case, we are having a SYMBOLIC ceremony (which is an actual ceremony and no one would even know it is not a legal ceremony). We plan to marry secretly in the U.s. BEFORE we go. That way we can celebrate a real honeymoon as well. :)
HTH!

For us, we are getting married in France and France has strict restrictions that you have to be a resident for at least 40 days to have a legal ceremony there so we are going to do a symbolic ceremony first and do the legal one after we get back. We are big proponents of pre-nups so we just don't have the time to get that done before the DW so we will get them done afterwards and have a legal ceremony here in the U.S. (maybe Hawaii, maybe Vegas, who knows...).

We will be doing the legal stuff upon our return to the , this was it feels more like filling out paperwork when we get home that having this big secret marriange before we leave. I am bad with secrets. Also Mexico will be the first time we say the vows to each other.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
