April 2010 Brides

Recommended Posts

I agree, erin, that the whole event is rather infectious, given that I did have fun at my girlfriends 'do' in the summer, but the whole while I was thinking how much it really just isn't for me. Or I should specifically say that the bar scene isn't for me. I don't mind getting dressed up and being ridiculous and having penis straws but on the best of nights I'm really not a bar person and never have been. My girls know me well enough to have a good idea of my limits so i guess in that regard I'm not worried... but they'll enjoy pushing my limits as much as they can too!!!

AND, of course we're all going to stick around until every last one of us is married off!! Plus then there are planning threads to create/finish and reviews to write, and pictures to post AND all of our newlywed stories to dish out etc etc etc... I don't think we'll have problems to find things to talk about. How often do we get off-topic here as it is cheesy.gif

we'll be the most active month yet :) i love it!!

i am also not a huge bar girl either. don't get me wrong, i loooove a good drink and i love having ridiculous nights, but just not combined. to me, the hangover is not nearly worth whatever fun was had the night before! like you said though meghan, hopefully our friends know us well enough to know what we'd like and what we won't! my one requirement was that we all go out to a nice dinner to start and then they can make it up from there!

Man, I swear I've been on this forum all day off and on and I still managed to miss a bunch of posts!! How'd that happen.

ebredhawk: I'm with you on the bad combo! especially having to wake up to a 19 month old in the morn! ugh, it's making me sick just thinking about it...Good thing is I'm a really really cheap drunk now, but that usually ends in a really early night! lol

But I do love a good penis...straw!! lol In my younger years I attended many a bachelorette and many a penis' were passed around!! lol Them's were the good ole' days!

I'm not really a bar person either, now I like a good pub, with cold beer and some good food! lol Mmmmmmm I could use some pub food right now, I so would break my diet at this time of night 11:43 pm...I hate cravings! to the gym tomorrow!

Meghan: if your gals dress you up in a pink Tutu and a sash we need to see the pics posted!!!! that will be soooooo fun and you're sooo lucky to have close friends near you!!

I sooooo hope everyone sticks around for us late April gals!! because even though I disappear MIA once in a while, I really do enjoy chatting to everyone - I just have to balance my addictions!! lol

Chat to you ladies soon!! 3 months today and I'll be in Mexico with tequila in hand and a Prilosec in my belly!! haha

Hey everyone!

I had totally forgotten about this thread, and was on my Dreams Punta Cana thread following it, but when I returned here, I had sooo much to catch up on! We're getting close, ladies! Soon we'll all be MRS!

Regarding the bachelorette party, I agree with you ebredhawk, I'm so nervous, I hate being the center of attention too! But I guess we better get used to it, since the attention will be on us on our big day! My MOH is currently planning and won't tell me anything except which weekend it is in March. :0S She's super creative though, so I'm sure it will be great! I have a question for you guys though: While she's planning my bachelorette party, I also have to start thinking about HERS, since I'm her MOH too! So, if you had to CHOOSE what to do, from start to finish, for your bachelorette party, what would you do? Do you have any cool ideas? Like I said, she's super creative and secretive about nine, and I don't want to cop out and just do a bar thing, or ASK her what she wants, so any input would be great!

Talk soon. I'll follow more faithfully, I promise! :0)

My requests for my bachelorette party were to go play paint ball or go roller skating!!!! I was always envious that the guys I know got to do something fun and active that didn't require them making fools of themselves or looking at naked tata's (LOL thanks Suzy for that!!) and that's what I really wanted. So in an off-handed comment from my sister she mentioned they'd been thinking about starting up something in the afternoon and then going into the evening so we could actually DO something. That being said, I don't have a clue what we're doing!

Otherwise, what about a cooking party? Oh yes or a strip-tease class? That was another idea we'd had to do and I might suggest for another girlfriends bachelorette soon. Ummm, we're going houseboating for a weekend for another girlfriend this summer (yep, lots of weddings coming up means lots of brides and parties!). Ooooh, you're not too far from cottage country Tara, what about renting out a chalet for a weekend or go the opposite direction into Quebec and rent a place on the ski hill for a night if you have an active group? Both of those last suggestions would benefit from a hot tub as well, and hopefully a good pub nearby :)

Oooh, thanks Echo, those are all great and unique ideas, I've definitely never thought of anything that different before! I guess there definitely are other options besides going out to the bars, or at least options for what to do BEFORE we head out to the bars! Thanks so much!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
