I too am an April 2010 bride, we will be getting married April 14th,2010 and the Grand Palladium White Sands in the Mayan Riviera. My save-the-dates were sent out in the middle of April and I so far have 41 people booked and am expecting at least another 10 or more to book at a later date.

Hmmmm....I don't think we had much of a secret to getting all of them to book, we were extremely surprised when we found out how many people actually booked. I think our families just love to travel, and we were telling people at least 6 months before we sent out our save-the-dates that we were planning a destination wedding and to start saving. In our save-the-date letter we had a certain date that people had to book by, nobody booked until the last couple days before the deadline.

Don't give up hope people are will book, everyone just likes to wait until last minute, I have a few people that held off on booking to get a better deal either somewhere else or book closer to the date.

Welcome crazykat! You are lucky to have a lot of people attending your wedding. I don't think my # of guests will even reach half yours lol.

Erin- My STDs are coming along fine now. We fixed the sentences about the MP and are done printing all the boarding passes. Now we are printing the pocket folders to hold them, just 10 more to go! Then our address labels need to be printed but FI is taking FOREVER to get his family's addresses. I swear he waits til the last minute to purposely drive me insane!

crazykat, did you really have a deadline to get people to book? Or did you just make one up? I have a lot of money down holding rooms at my resort. It will go towards our trip and then the balance will given back to us, but I'm just wondering if when I send out my invites if I should just give an arbitrary deadline.

Thoughts?

michele, did you have to put down that money yourself for your guests rooms? just to hold off a block or something?

crazykat, i am incredibly impressed! your family and friends must just be on top of things!

christina, i think the april 2010 thread has more posts than some of the 2009 ones!! we should be very proud! :)

tonya, you will feel so much better once you get those STDs put together. (i still giggle every time i type STD!) i think there's a point where they feel like they'll never get done!

we just talked to our TA and we're having some trouble booking our honeymoon. i guess Apple vacations only has 7 day charters which means FI and i have 3 choices... 1) stay 7 days with our guests and be able to fly down and home with them 2) fly separately down from our guests and be able to stay for 11 days and go to our honeymoon resort or 3) stay for 14 days with 1 week at each resort. if we go with #1 we'd go on a vacation later which would give us something else to look forward to, so that's what i'm leaning towards. it's not an immediate honeymoon, but it may be fun anyway! is anyone else not going to have time at the resort with just you and FI?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
