Thanks ladies we love him...I want to include him in our AHR but I think that will be a bit too much..I am also excited we are taking our e-pics this month!!! If you did a clothes change where did you go? do I duck inside a business and use their restroom or what? Brian can change shirts like in the car or something..but I planned on doing a dress/leggings & jeans..clueless...

i thought mine were the only ones!! both of our dogs were rescues and we weren't sure if they would get along. it made me really nervous at first, but they don't ever hurt each other and it wears them out and they pass out right next to each other!

i did a mad-dash wardrobe change from a tank/shorts to a dress in the back seat of my car with my photog and FI on the look out. i definitely don't recommend that! if you can find a place with a public bathroom, i'd definitely use that! you will have SO much fun with your pictures! it makes me sad that mine are already done!

I love that so many of you here have rescue dogs!! I used to foster boxers and my own boxer was my very first! We think she wasn't well socialized to basically any other animals that move as a pup so she can act very aggressively which of course we have to be careful with. When I got her we were told she'd be a no-cat, no-dog kind of pet... and yet we now have two cats and she's lived with numerous other foster dogs. She just needs her transition time and to learn right away who's boss (ME!). She now has doggy friends that come over, but we don't think she'll ever be an off-leash candidate.

 

And for those of you who saw a drastic difference in the behaviour of one dog once you got the second - there's a reason! I'm a total believer in Caesar Milan (the dog whisperer), the fact that dogs by basic nature are pack oriented and are mostly submissive to whomever shows leadership over them - like you or a more dominant dog. So with your first dog, even though you might have given them rules, they maybe didn't have a pack relationship with you leading to the more hyper erratic behaviour. So when you added the second dog to your house that had a more calm personality, this would have appealed to your first dogs basic nature thus making him more calm as well.

 

And this doesn't mean that they are going to behave calmly allllll the time of course, just that as a pair they are more likely to revert back to calm, submissive behaviour that is typically oriented with a pack. Hehe, and that's my doggie lecture for the day!

 

LOL, and I totally hear you about the living room turning into a wrestling ring!! Often when we have friends over the visits involve their dogs. Last time we had my boxer, a retriever, a lab and a border collie mix all together in my house. Talk about insanity!! It's hilarious to watch them all play together though so we don't mind.

My dad just bough a puppy (but he had a lung removed) so pretty much I take care of the dog, it's a shnauzer, and oh man oh man he is sooo hyper!!! I may take you guys advice and get another dog (after the wedding, since between my parents and us we have 6 cats and 1 dog now it's be $$ to get them a sitter)

You guys should post pics of your kids(dogs)!! I would love to see them

oh my gosh.. budweiser is so cute!!!! i will post a picture of my two bozos tonight... the best pictures i have of them are from our engagement pictures and they're on my home comp.

 

meghan, i completely agree!! i love caesar.. he is amazing. that is definitely what happened with our dogs. we noticed they were licking each others ears a lot so i googled it and apparently that's a pack bonding thing.

 

we are total hijackers, but it's healthy to take a break from wedding planning every once in a while, right?!

This pic was taken a day after they met (last August). Cody's on the left and Eli is on the right.

 

My oldest, Cody, he'll be 4 in December.

 

My baby Eli.. although I shouldn't call him a baby anymore.. he's 1.5 years old!

 

My situation was the opposite. Cody's a very laid back kind of dog. We got Eli because Cody would just mope around the house (we think its bc he was lonely), now that we have Eli they play a lot, which helps keep Cody active. I have to agree with the livingroom wrestling match. My boys are small but they can totally knock things over when the jump and chase each other.

I agree- it's nice to see. Our dog was just a baby when we took her, her Mom was rescued from a very sad situation (think well below freezing temps and no shelter, chained up outside) and she had her pups the very day after she was taken to the shelter. The poor puppies never would have made it if she hadn't been rescued! I'm so glad we adopted my dog and gave her a good home, she was a crazy puppy but is turning into an incredible dog- smart as a whip and extremely affectionate with humans and other animals. Anyway- that's my dog story for the day- I'd better quit now or I could go all day!

awww.. I love hearing stories like that where the dogs get good homes.. so sad what people can do to animals. I want a farm, so I can take all of those animals home!!!
