Fearful my parent's room will be right next door to ours!

Recommended Posts

Hi, Ladies!

Ok, so I just posted my thread to announce that we have officially booked our stay at SGOR as of yesterday...and now I have one concern I didn't mention. I don't know if this topic has been discussed a million times before, so please bear with me if it has!

My parents have decided to stay in the exact same room category as my FI and I (Honeymoon Penthouse Oceanfront Concierge Room), which are located on the 4th and 5th floors of the Riviera building, and now I am worried that they will be in the room RIGHT NEXT TO OURS if I don't request that we be separated.

I mean, I'm glad they are going to be close by, but come on, right? Without being too indiscreet here, I gotta ask: Who wants their parents to be on the other side of the wall on their wedding night?! All I know is that in our apartment, I can hear everything (and I mean EVERYTHING) that goes on in the bedroom of my next door neighbor, and I don't know if hotel walls are going to be any more "soundproof"!

Has anyone else asked their TA/Sandals to keep their room separate from their guests, even if they are staying in the same room category/same building and had success?

Any input is appreciated!

Too funny! We actually requested rooms next to our family for the first 4 nights of our stay then a different room type in a completely different building for the night of our wedding and the rest of our trip-in part just to avoid being too close. It's nice too because the rooms we have with the family are close to everything and will be a great way to spend time together (we have just parents and one sibling joining us) and the second room is really private facing the ocean.

I'm sure your TA can arrange it for you! And if not....well....try not to think about it I guess lol.

Thanks for sharing my apprehension about this, uh, delicate topic, ladies!

Now, I'm not saying we want to be "swinging from the rafters" like circus performers or anything, but a little privacy is really appropriate for the occasion, right?! wink.gif

And, my mother is totally in agreement that I should see what the TA can do to fulfill this request. (Thanks, TA Maureen for the reminder that I should check with the front-desk staff to see what they can do when we get there!)

I need to call my TA in the morning with a few other questions, so I will be sure to post what she says so you all know what can be done in the way of this request! I am hoping that since we booked just under 1 year out, that they will be able to make a note before others make their reservations and they potentially run out of others rooms to switch us to within our category!

Arrrggh...my TA, I am sad to report, is out of the office until Wednesday on business! After I get in touch with her, I'll give y'all the low down on what she says!

Good thinking, Josie! I am just sort of hoping the people at the resort have been asked this questions a million times before and they'll just be like, "No problem, mon! Everything will be ire!" Or in your case in Mexico, "Si, Senorita!"

OH MY! I didn't even THINK of this!!! Last time we were in Jamaica, the whole family was in the same block with my parents beside us (I shared a room with my bro) so it wasn't a big deal. But this time, it's a little different! Thanks for posting this, it didn't even occur to me! lol

We went with another couple and stayed in the Rivera building (3rd floor). They were right next door. To be honest you could not hear a thing (or so they said..lol). We could not hear them and vice versa. The walls seem pretty thick. The only thing I ever herd was doors shutting from time to time. It almost felt like we were the only ones on the floor! It was great!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
