Someone call me a fat ass would you??

Recommended Posts

Since I got engaged it seems my willpower and drive has gone out the window. In fact I find myself eating more!!! UGH! I have a year until my wedding and I'd like to lose 40 pounds. I know this is doable....it's just getting the motivation to do it. You'd think that the wedding would be the best motivator, but it hasn't kicked in yet!!!

Can anyone help me kick start my lazy ass??

Ha, I did the same thing. The first few months after I got engaged I actually endulged in a lot of delicious foods...knowing that I was going to have to stop eating all of that at some point. I feel like having one last hurrah with the yummy stuff before I said goodbye to it for awhile made it a bit easier!

Try to set a date and an action plan - like I'm going to start x day, and I'm going to lose x pounds per month, and I'm going to do it by having a x calorie diet and burning x calories per week through exercise. It's totally do-able if you do the calculations of how many calories you need to get rid of per week/month (3500 calories = 1 pound).

Good luck!

Hey Lexi bride,

I think it's tough to get and stay motivated, but it's really a great idea to try to incorporate healthier eating into your life and exercise too, not just to look good in your dress but to be healthier for the rest of your life. I know it's hard, I don't think it gets any easier. I think it really helps if your partner is on board, at least for me it does - like we go and play sports together and bug each other if we're feeling too lazy to go to the gym without any good excuse. Sometimes I like watching weight loss shows, like Last 10 lbs boot camp - or Biggest Loser, for motivation! Maybe you could enroll in a boot camp class or something with one of your friends, just to help you get into the work out mode - it's nice when you don't have to think/plan workouts - you just show up. Good luck, keep us updated on how it's going wink.gif.

Hehe, been there done that! I was a total slacker up until about one month before my wedding date. I can't really offer much advice other than you're the only person that can really motivate yourself. You have a goal, so that's a good starting point, now all you need is a plan of action and possibly a reward system (that doesn't involve food hehe) to keep yourself motivated. Wishing you the best of luck, let us know how it goes!

I was feeling the exact same way. I just couldn't get motivated for the life of me. For some reason, I got motivated on Monday morning though. I've been up every day this week doing P90X (amazing workout) at 5:30am and I've also been eating really well all week. I think it's psychological but I feel way better already. If I were you, I'd start tomorrow - or even today - try not to put it off if you can (I did that for months - for what?). There are a few great threads on here if you didn't already know - biggest loser competitions, weight watchers and other weight loss & work out stuff.

I wish you all the best. The hardest part is now. Once you start and get into it, you'll feel better, see results and you'll want to keep it up. And don't stress, you still have enough time. muscle.gif

I think a lot of future brides go through this. I looked great for both of my brothers' weddings, but I'm about 30 pounds heavier for mine. I just couldn't stay focused on eating right with so much else going on. So a few months ago I said forget it. I'm tired of stressing myself out over it and decided that I am happy the way that I am. What bride doesn't look beautiful on her wedding day?

Hopefully you'll find the motivation you're looking for, but if you don't, understand that this is pretty common. Best of luck to you!

Thanks so much guys! I totally understand where you're coming from and trust me this was a struggle before I got engaged and I thought that getting engaged would help!! I have tried desperately to incorporate healthy eating, I just need to get my butt in gear and exercise. I've had a stressfull year and now that things are starting with wedding planning, it's getting worse. I will be upset unless I get started asap. Tomorrow morning when my FH comes home (he's a Sergeant and works nights this week) I'm going for a WALK!! For me it's not so much how I look in the dress, although that's a bonus, it's how I feel! I don't want to feel insecure or feel that I settled. I want to feel great in my own skin!

Hi there! I was right there with you! I have been with FI for about 3 years and in that time gained about 30 lbs. In January we both signed up for Biggest Loser Challenges at our work places...and Nutrisystem! FI always saw the commericals with Dan Marino and everytime they came on he would say, "Lets order". Well one night we did! So we were both on NS and our challenge. His work contest ended two weeks ago, and he lost 40 lbs and won his!!! $500 prize! I am so proud of him! He worked out like 5 days a week and he looks great. The pic in our profile was taken in Sept and since then we both look different. I should update our pics. :)

My contest ended yesterday and I lost 22lbs. I also won! I didn't work out so much, but my biggest thing was eating better and drinking lots of water! I won $425!

THe moral is Nutrisystem, working out, and us motivating each other along with our contests worked for us. NS has a great online plan and counselors whicj I really used a lot my first month. I plan to stay on it until the wedding to make sure I look good in my dress.

Maybe you can try some of these methods to help.

I am happy with NS. Anyhoo...that is what has worked for us. :) Good luck!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
