Swine Brides **Support Thread**

Hi Ladies,

I'm here to offer support! I just got back from my wedding in Puerto Vallarta, and there is NO FLU THERE!!! If it's possible for you, I want to encourage everyone NOT to cancel their weddings! Mexico is beautiful and safe and I'm heartbroken for brides and also the Mexican people. This thing is absolutely blown astronomically out of proportion. I hate it for everyone. Trust me, I just got back, and there is nothing at all to worry about. Period.

I just got word that Air Transat has canceled their trips to Mexico in June as well! I think they are WAY jumping the gun again.

So...we fly on July 3rd...which means we would be the first flight out since all of the canceled air transat flights to Mexico.

I can't tell you how nervous that makes me..if they cancel even one more flight it will be me AGAIN!

I posted this in the other thread, but I thought some of you may also have some interest in this:

Hey guys, just to update, we had to switch our desitination from Cancun to Maui, b/c along with not wanting to take 2 small children to Mexico with a swine flu outbreak, our travel agency canceled all their charter flights to Mexico for the month of May. Anyway, after emailing all the vendors to try to recoop some of the money, I got an email from Vanessa Jaimes (florist) that I thought was quite interesting so I thought I would share.

So here it is:

HOLA KIM

I AM SO SORRY FOR DELAYED RESPONSE, WE´VE BEEN VERY BUSY WITH ALL THIS SITUATION.

BUT SO FAR CANCUN IS A SAFE PLACE AND WE ARE SO UPSET ON HOW OUR GOVERNMENT MAKE SUCH A BIG DEAL ABOUT THIS.

WE HAD OVER 100 DEADS LAST YEAR BEACUSE THE SWINE FLU AND NOBODY TELL ANYTHING. NOW THAT WE HAVE SELECTIONS IN 2 MORE MONTHS

AND AFTER OUR ECONOMY IS GOING DOWN ALL OVER THE COUNTRY, THEY MAKE ALL THESE BAD RECOMMENDATIONS TO COME TO MEXICO.

SO FAR WE JUST HAVE 3 WEDDINGS CANCELLED LAST WEEKEND, THIS WEEKEND WE HAVE 3 MORE AND THEY STILL COMING, BUT IF YOUR CLIENTS WANT TO STAY IN THE STATES, WE WILL UNDERSTAND.

UNFORTUNATELY I DID SENT A DEPOSIT TO MY SUPPLIER LIKE A WEEK AGO, BUT WE JUST SENT $90 USD, SO I CAN GIVE YOU THE REST, PLEASE SEND ME YOUR BANK ACCOUNT AND I WILL LET YOU KNOW WHEN WE MAKE THE DEPOSIT.

IF YOUR CLIENTS CHANGE THEIR MINDS ALSO LET ME KNOW RIGHT AWAY TO HOLD THIS DEPOSIT AND USE IT FOR YOUR WEDDING.

SORRY FOR DELAYED RESPONSE BY THE WAY.

KIND REGARDS

So anyway, things look fine in Cancun & as we suspected, the media appears to have blown this whole thing out of proportion. Good luck to you ladies that were able to keep your weddings in Meixco. I was so excited to go back to Cancun, but Maui is just as exciting I suppose.

Hi Girls

I am a Swine Brides Wedding planner in Cabo….

Just for your information, people and news now are saying that this is also a screen from our government, because they are legalizing personal use of drugs in order to avoid the drugs trafficking and the violence in the border cities. But of course all the decisions related with the drugs are always controversial then they are doing this bigger in order to keep the opposition distracted, then they are not going to do the big meetings on the streets with many people and typical troubles they use to do when government are trying to do big changes. That is why also your president came to Mexico some people said, this is a news link regarding this, sorry is in Spanish.. Aprueba el Senado dosis personal de droga y ley de combate al narcomenudeo | Milenio.com

My best friend is doctor, and he told me that the regular flu kill more people than this swine flu every year…. 45 people died in Mexico city due the swine flue in the last 15 days (in a 26 million people city)…. 100 people died everyday due cancer in the same city and 25 people died everyday run over because they donâ€t use the pedestrian bridges.

This will be history in few days….

I would like to thank you on my name and the name of the people who works for tourism in Mexico for give us the opportunity to help you making special your wedding day, and we love to do that because thanks you and your guests many Mexican families has food in their tables.

Thank you and God bless you.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
