Scalp Psoriasis

So I've been fighting with these 2 patches behind my ears. I've tried a bunch of OTC stuff with little luck.

With the wedding getting so close, I really want to clear this up. I can't get into the derm until 4/23. It seems to be getting a little worse.

I'm willing to try anything at this point!!

My friend has Psoriasis and the best and fastest remedy was steroid injections at the affected area by the Dermotologist. She said it cleared up in about a week and only took the one visit.

Maybe you can go to a different office or explain your upcoming wedding and see if they will work you in? I would think they would understand. If not maybe they can call you on the first cancellation.

Good Luck!

If you have the flexibility and even a small relationship with your dermatologists (have been to the office before), I would give them a call, explain your wedding is coming up, and ask them to call you if there have been any cancellations.

I went to the dentist for the first time in years (I have a very irrational fear), while I thankfully didn't need any work done for dental health reasons per se. My dentist has been been bending over backwards to get my teeth looking thier absolute best for the wedding (e.g., replacing silver fillings with composite, fixing a chipped tooth, and getting me set-up with invisalign - which I actually need for dental health reasons, I'm chipping my own teeth). And, this is the first time I have ever been to the office, but they know I have a wedding coming up...

uuurrrggg, I had head psoriasis when I was younger and I had to shampoo with a tar shampoo. Multi tar plus it was called... it scarred me for life I think! I will ALWAYS remember the smell of that stuff! But it worked like a charm...

i have it too. nothing otc works for me. my doc gave me a shampoo-like liquid to massage into the spot about 5 min before getting into the shower. he also gave me a steroid injection but that didn't work for me.

the bad about psoriasis and your wedding: you may not see results before you go - but i'd call anyway and tell them you're getting married, could you just pop in for an injection or see the nurse practitioner, etc.

the good: you're going to a hot place - sun is good for psoriasis - with an ocean - ocean water is one of the best short-term remedies for psoriasis.

in the meantime, try neutrogena t-gel. it smells like absolute poop but will help a bit while you wait for other solutions.

I've done all the OTC shampoos, yes they smell like ass, but didn't really help. I've also bought skin zinc, that helped a bit, but it's really messy and I really like to wear my hair down, so I can't use it when it's down.

The past week, I've been washing my hair everyday and just wearing it up so I don't have to dry and straighten it. It seems to help, but whats the sense of having long hair when I can't wear it down!!

This is a new Dr I'm going to, so they can't really get me in early. I'm on the cancellation list. We shall see how this goes. Apparently this Dr created his own shampoo for this reason and it works wonders. At this point I'm game for anything!!!

I work at a tanning salon and we have a lot of people with psoriasis come in! And almost all of them say that when they are exposed to sunlight they get the best results. I've actually witnessed excessive psoriasis on the arms practically vanish. Technically its the UVB (for the amount of vitamin D) you need. And i know there is a topical cream that has a huge amount of vitamin d in it, but i don't thinks its OTC.

If you're not opposed to tanning its work looking into.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
